Smaller sprocket and enjoy the only three speed blast! Jk sorry I don't know on this one?

So I bought a blast! But it will not shift past 3rd gear. I bought a service manual and it seems like a lot of work to get to that transmission! Is there anything else I can try first?

To the OP...adjust the shifter pawl per the manual. Then fill to the proper levels (per manual) with proper fluid (no friction modifiers). Then adjust primary tension (NOT per the manual) using the sound method.
Fixed it! Yes the shift pawl was way out of adjustment. Did that and bam shifts like a dream
Garbs,
It is great to hear when someone responds back to the forum that they were able to fix their Blast.

Well there went the 3 speed, and I thought you really had something going for you! Congrats though.:D
Still haven't had time to try adjusting mine, hope I get lucky too! Glad to hear when someone replies on a fix, so many people never do.
Hey mine was a custom fix! But I'll be honest I didn't know the answer to that one, bet you never would have guessed!
Can anyone recommend a competent transmission repair shop that can fix the transmission issues with these problems. The dealers won't even touch them. I have performed all the outside the case easy fixes - several times and still jumps out of 1st & 3rd and won't go into 4th & 5th but occasionally, When it does get in to 4th it is a bear to get it unlocked.
I appreciate all the information on the pins, pawl... repairs, but as you research there are many Blast basket pieces that are far beyond the tinker's capability.
This is like AMF Harley all over again.
