Well I am the new owner of a 2003 Buell Blast with ~10K miles on it.  I absolutely love it.  This is my first bike and my friend advised me that it would be a great starter bike.  I was looking at Ninja 250s but I could not pass up the sound and love that I have for the sound of this engine.  It has great pickup and felt good on the highway.  I couldn't get off the thing for like two hours.  It is such a great bike.  I already got the oil changed with the filter and cleaned the K&N air filter and brake fluid added with a full inspection.  Runs like a champ. Oh and BTW, it came with a full Vance and Hines exhaust kit so it feels and sounds great with that on.
