I dont know diddly squat about the blasts per se, But i do a thing or 3 about carbys. Especially on old bikes. So, in general i never cared for CV type carbs as most of them, (japanese bikes) are compliant type carbs for emissions in the US and give okay service when new but over the years are a problem, especially on a 30 or 40 year old japanese 4 cyl, seems like always one doesnt want to behave, and they are crazy expensive to rebuild. Thats why many people if they can swap them out for a Mikuni NON-CV (see Mikes XS650 page for common kits). So that being said, I dont live CVs, However on my wifes Sportster (year 2000) I have grudgingly come to like that CV.

I did a lot of reading on them on the XL forums, and some others, a google search for
"CV Carbs, Sportster" will bring up loads of tech articles or go to this one here,,,,,
    http://xlforum.net/vbportal/forums/index.php

and you will find some REALLY good tech on making a CV work well, and when upgraded and dialed in, make a damn good carb, One vendor many people really like is CVPerformance
    http://www.cv-performance.com/

I have ordered their kits, and fitted them to several bikes now, and very pleased with their products and excellent tech support, the owner has personally emailed me several times and was very helpful, You will also find him active on several forums, and is very supportive.

I think that might be a good place to start.. IF running a CV, On my Tuber Buell, I am switching it over to a Mikuni kit, as I prefer a non CV carb for certain applications, And I still wont run a CV on many bikes, but the Harley CV carb CAN be made into a pretty decent carb and Im happy with the CV on my wifes Sporty. So is she.
so there,,,,,,,thats my $0.02. worth what you paid for it.

.47 is almost a half inch. You need .05", just under 1/16" thickness.
