So for the first time this last weekend I rode an XB9R and man what a difference from the 12. I figured they were pretty much the same bike, but from the second I got on it and revved the engine I felt the torque difference. I sure am happy I got the 12. The bike belongs to a buddy of mine who just started riding again after about 6 years.
Its not a big deal or anything that Im sharing this, I know, but I just figured for those who have not had to chance to ride both, know what it was I felt. It in all is the same bike, but the power and torque seems to be light years different. Which does in turn change the feel of the ride quite a bit, I wouldnt say one better than the other, just different.
What do you think?

I think you are way off your debate on this.  I had my old 01 Cyclone with the 1203 and my 03 Firebolt 9r and they are very comparable.  You make it seem like there is a 40lbft difference in torque.  It is like 5ftlbs different.  Not that much at all. I actually like the 9 motor better than the 12 motor.

Sometimes specs on paper differ greatly from actual riders experience.  The 9 has a slightly higher redline and different pulley.  So even though the power may be similar...its the delivery thats different.  I think thats what Zoedogg was saying.

the cyclone tuber isn't the same as the xb. it's a different engine, pulley, trans, etc.

and a standard 14 ft.lbs. & 11hp @ the cranckshaft doesn't seem like alot, but you do feel it.
the good thing is, you can get the 9 to the 12 level with some aftermarket parts...that with the higher rpm range has it's advantages.

I could see that LeFox, and thanks for helping me clarify mrdozer2you. Im only stating what I felt when I was on the bike. I have a race ecm, jardine exhaust, k&n...etc. and hes's got a race ecm, Buell race exaust, and K&N air filter. As far as me being way off base...DONT THINK SO.. I can, like I said before truely feel quite a diffrence in the two bikes. I was trying to say above that Im not knockin the 9's at all, but that I am happier with my 12 now that I rode the two. Sorry if this feels like a wedgie to you to hear, but in this case its the truth. Im willing to bet there are plenty of 9's out there that happen to feel just like my 12 after all the hop ups, but again, Im glad to know I didnt get one and have to spend a grip to get the feeling of a 12.
Please, dont let this get you worked up, its not what Im trying to do...Its just an opinion on what I experienced when I rode these two paticular bikes.
