If you are that far away from the dealer and service your own bike, why don't you buy more than one oil change at a time while you are there??

Me personally, I use factory filters, on my bike and my truck.

I use a K&N oil filter on mine.  I don't mind paying the $12 for it.  I am with BPG on that though.  If you are at the dealer get 3-4 at a time and keep them on deck waiting.....OH YEAH DON'T FORGET THE O-RINGS!!!!

Cuz i always work on my own things, thats how my dad has tought. I run Amsoil and i dnt think the dealer has that

Other folks may disagree, but I run an automotive Fram and have had no issues in my 20,000 miles.  I run Redline oil and change it every 3,000 miles.

If you saw the testing on Fram's, you might second guess running them.

I wouldn't put them on my lawnmower...

thier is nothing wrong with fram. i have sols all of the filters listed thier is a little diffrence with the filters. here are the best filters as listed in most any car or motorcycle nag.   1. mobile one.  2k&n 3 wix 4 fram 5 purolator.

I have cut open all 5 and seen the gut and read the first pass eff.  I am an k&n guy but for the normal everyday person the fram is fine.  and i am only saying this because I have to my work sells fram

lol

I belive that an wix filter is the best they have a better case and more filter media. I will post the pics of the cut open test.

Cut open tesing is fine and dandy, but I am talking about pressure and function testing.

There is one thing wrong with that statement,  CAR...

im not trying to get  you up in arms but I also work in the parts field. I agree that the pressure and function are at the upmost of importance. I dont know what happend with your history with fram. but all filters have to meet or beat oe specs. like I said I use the K&N. I will say that the fram is perfect car filter. If its a pressure rating the wix has a very thick and rigid case but for the cheap and frugal people fram seems to be the way. Do you mind telling me your story about fram.    I have asked you  for advice in the past for my buell concerns. and am always open to nrw info that may help answer other peoples questions in the future

probably the case here is that you are comparing tests made for cars/automobiles and applying the same results for motorcycles.

1. a car is not a motorcycle.
2. a watercooled car/motorcycle is not a aircooled motorcycles.
3. an aircooled 4cylinder is not an aircooled twin.

different tests, different demands, different requirements.

So who makes the OEM filter for Buell/Harley? It would be interesting to find out and what filter meets or exceeds the OEM performance specifications. Im running Mobile One Oil (V-Twin) and filter.

Just a little insider info.  Just like virtually one company developed all of the additives that go into engine oil (Lubrizol), almost all of the filters discussed here come from the same factory.  Its called private labeling. Not to say the filters themselves are the same, different media and flow contribute to their differences.
