Does anyone know exactly what disconnecting the white wire on the xb9 does? What is this wire for?

Where is this magical wire?

I just reran a bunch of my wires and one of the headlight wires is white.

So I imagine it is the low beam and it would then allow you to drive with no running light. Just a guess.

white wire in grey plug connects to a sensor which keeps the exhaust within environmental standard.

if you have a race ecm, this does not matter, since it is not taken into account by the ecm

instead of cutting it, do this and seal of the hole in the connector to protect it.

just cut it out. wires were an option you didnt ask for!!!!

would there be any benefit for cutting the white wire?

I unplugged this wire and it didn't really seem to make a difference, so I just plugged it back in.

plz note, that if you have a race ecm installed, this mod is useless.

why?
cause the race ecm doesn't send a pulse over the white wire.

why not?
because the signals sent over the white wire is for environmental related/fuell emission laws, which limits the performance of the bike.

If I pull this wire is there anything else I need to do before riding?

Adding on to what I asked..
I have a K&N Air Filter, Jardine Exhaust, And a Dobeck kit. Will I be able to tell a difference right away?

i don't know how it will be in combination with the dobeck kit, normally there should be a noticable difference.

but i would suggest not to cut the wire, but use the method mentioned above. just unplug the wire, testride and if you're pleased with the result, finish the work.

Hmmm..  I can't help but be doubtful of this white wire's PFM (pure friggin magic).....  I'd love to get more performance, but does anyone know what this wire is actually for? I really don't want to try it without knowing more about what's on this wire. Is it an input to the ecm?  I'm an auto mechanic and I've never heard of disconnecting a wire for more more performance. If there's free horsepower lurking somewhere in my bike, I want it!  If anyone knows more about this wire and its relationship to the ecm, please let me know. I enjoy the technical stuff so bring it on!!

hey wulfs, from what I've been told the white wire goes to something else on the 12, not sure though, maybe BPG knows...

Id like to do this to my 08 XB12R, or is this only for the 9?
Posted:  13 Aug 2008 21:46 [?]
far as i know, it's only for the 9
Posted:  14 Aug 2008 00:37 [?]
I will give it a shot too.  Well....that is when I figure out this whole ignition fuse blowing fiasco!
Posted:  14 Aug 2008 01:26 [?]
Hmmm...interesting. I heard the white wire was hooked up to an actuaul living human brain hidden somewhere under the transmisson....sorry...

I have done this back and forth a few times in ECM Spy to my 12 and noticed it felt a bit snappier and also the rev's don't hang as much.  Engine speed comes down quicker and doesn't feel so much like it has a 50 lb flywheel. Pops a little more on deceleration though.  Nice free mod.

I traced white wire in scamatics it runs to the vss and to the gage cluster.  not sure yet what in all the vss accounts for yet but when i find out i'll post it  vss= vehicle speed sensor
Posted:  14 Aug 2008 03:12 [?]
the only thing i can find so far are the pin outs of the plugs on pinout.ru according to them it is the same on the 9 and the 12. so it should be blocking or disabling the same signal

But what EXACTLY does disconnecting this wire DO?  Why/how does it give you more power?
Posted:  14 Aug 2008 16:15 [?]
Pretty sure they said this above already, but the white wire carries a fuel limiting signal. By disconnecting your are turning off that fuel limiter. e.i. more power.
