Does anyone know of or if there is a 6 speed tranny for the XB9R? I put about 450 miles on my XB9R a week and boy can I use an extra gear on the highway Is there any way to drop the rpm's in 5th gear,like swapping put a rear belt pully? Anyone have any info?

Maybe we should swamp Baker with snail mail and crash their server with emails till they make a 6 speed for the XB's

You could put in a primary sprocket and chain from a 12. Or do a chain conversion an pick just about any ratio you want. Of course you'll lose a little bottom end grunt. Now that I think about LeFox postedd a link somewhere to a company that makes belt pullies for the XB, iirc.

I like that idea of buggin the hell outa Baker,I am going to call my local dealer and see if the in house guru has anything to say.If anything good comes out of it,I'll post the info.

no 6speed tranny for the xb either change primairy with the 12, get other sprockets or swap the belt for a chain and get other sprocket. You can get alot of gear off american sportbike dot com.  I trust those guys there 100% with all of my XB9R issues (even the really retarded ones that I should have been able to figure out myself).

if you have an 2003 xb you would be in luck. that would be before the case change and baker does make a six speed to fit that model

It doesn't fit any XB's.  Check the fine print.

on the six speed is the final drive gear pretty much the same ratiohow would that help I think it would hurt more

It just seems that spinning 4000 rpm's at 80 mph is a bit high. Now throw in the Jardine RT1 pipe(sound at 80 mph) and that makes me think even more that the motor could spin a little less and mot have to work so hard to do 80.PS,love my Jardine.

I need this as well. I hear you re: 80+ with a Jardine. Takes about an hour to regain my hearing after riding to work / back. So is the general consensus the XB12R rear sprocket and belt will do the trick as far as giving you a little head room on the highway? (Sorry if that is incorrect; trying to make sense of all the options posted.) And any way to determine how much low-end will be lost in doing this?

The XB12 gearing as far as the front and rear sprockets and belts are concerned are the same as the XB9R.  The difference is in the primary gears and chain.  The XB12 has taller gearing in the primary and will swap to the XB9R.  You will just lose some low end grunt and probably a shade slightly more expected to change your clutch.

The rear sprocket on the 12R looks alot bigger then my 9R. I have i believe a have a 72t not sure about the 12R.

If you go on the ASB website they have a xb12r conversion kit for the primary drive,they say you will drop about 400 rpm's.On the Baker website they say to make sure you've put a little gettieup in the lower end to make up for the loss of lower end torque.I think your best bet,and it's what I've been doing,is to check ebay and cgaigslist for someone parting out a xb12r and pick up the parts you need.May have a few miles on them,but at 1/2 the price.
