You're at the right place.  He was one of the OG's that helped me start this forum.  I'm sure if you ask a question that he hasn't already answered 40 times he will respond within a couple days or so.

buellpartsguy is it possble to notch the preload(the top of the shock) lower than the factory setting. or even removing it with out damge to the shock, or the bike?

I have never heard of anybody doing this.  I supposed you could do it, but you run a chance of the spring coming loose in there if you go too far.  I wouldn't recommend doing it.

I would recommend getting a new shock that is properly valved to your weight, or have someone rebuild yours with different valving
