Was up in Dallas area this weekend and went by a Buell dealership bexuase they are all about 100 miles from my house and never miss the chance to stop at one when i am traveling. Any way there was a used 05 12 bolt there that had an aftermarket pipe that I had never heard. I cranked it up and thought it blew my Buell race pipe out of the water as far as sound goes, does anybody know if I would get better performance from a D&D instead of the Buell race pipe?? Mine came with the Buell pipe and I had to look back at LeFox's post on pipes to identify it. My Buell is the only one I have ever ridden or been around so I have no basis to compare it too. I admit I should have road this one but was not dressed right and didnt have a lid so I passed. Any thoughts or opinions would be good, although I would have to sell my Buell pipe to buy the D&D and I heard they are not made anymore and would hate lose it and want it back.

I just installed a D&D on my 07xb12s. I never heard or rode a bike with the race exhaust, so I'm kinda in your same boat. From the exhaust shootout, I believe they concluded the Race exhaust provided some gains in the upper ranges vs the D&D is more of a midrange pipe.
After installing my D&D I did notice a significant increase in power in my midrange. I'm still working on a custom remapp for some fine tuning.
Like you I can't compare to any thing else but my stock pipe. But I really like the extra power in the midrange. I can catch that wheelie every time now

the buell race-pipe will perform better.
it's also easier, since you have a ready mapped race-ecm to go with it if you have a hard time finding a dyno & tuner.

I was curious if the Buell race ecm went with the Buell pipe better then another aftermarket pipe. It would make sense that it would but what makes sense to us doesnt always make sense to the engineer ie putting the oil filter on top of the header (my wifes previous car)so you burn your arm to get it off.
And yes it would take some effort to get a custom tuned ecm. I plan on putting it in the shop this winter for a TPS reset and timing check, I dont know if the previous owner did it after installing the ecm and pipe.

There is no doubt he had it done or the bike would run horrible with the race kit put on there but no TPS recalibration.
