Since adding my race ECM, Jardine pipe, and K&N filter, I have noticed that it is a whole lot easier to get the rpm's up much faster. The problem is that the same is true in 5th gear. At 110 mph I notice that I've only got about 2000 or less more rpm's to play with. Have I sacrificed my top end? Just curious, cause everyone knows we have little to no business taking corners at 130 mph or even straight aways for that matter."Thats the responsible person in me...ignore him".

what was your topspeed before?
what is it now?
changing to a race muffler, k&n and race ecm should not change your top speed, only your acceleration.
low quality fuel, bad spark plugs, etc may influence topspeed a bit.

Your top speed can not change as long as you can still reach redline in 5th gear. However if a 5th gear roll-on from say 5000rpm to readline now takes longer than yes you've lost some top end power.

Thats a great question...I have never opened it up to a redline speed, it just seemed to me that my tack reads higher at the 110 mph mark or so. Maybe Im getting all confused...I did just have a birthday, and my joints hurt for no reason now...lol.
I just had my 10K service done about 4 weeks ago.I do have quality plugs at home. It just seemed like such a waste to switch them out so soon. I also always use 92 oct. fuel. I refill about 2 times a week, which reminds me, I need gas, and need to drain my catch can. Should I change the plugs out?

if you're not experiencing problems, not yet...higher octane would do great, though!

I have a Jardine pipe (no tuning) and I can get close to 125mph on a flat road. But the truth is, if my bike only got to 100mph I would be totally happy. All the fun with the Buell, in my opinion, happens under 100 anyway. I'll be looking to get a track bike this winter...and it will most likely be a 750 and made in Japan. But the Buell will be my street ride. It's the best real world bike I've ever ridden. And it's the only bike that if you stare at long enough...actually says "what the F**K are you looking at?"

If you put on a Jardine, you can expect to lose 5-10hp due to it being a straight-thru muffler. It does not provide proper back-pressure. You need a Drummer or D&D pipe to make proper use of that race ECM.

I knew it didn't work as well as some others...but a loss of 5-10hp seems high. But I wouldn't know for sure. Does it effect torque? Might need to sell the Jardine and get a drummer

ahm...what does top speed have to do with hp??
losing hp with the jardine? there must be a dyno conspiracy going on them. asb shootout (to give a quick example)

By the way firechicken, is that a HID ballast at the front of your frame? It looks good there.

I have no idea where you get your information from but you are so out of context it isn't even funny. The Jardine pipe alone gives you 3-4hp you don't lose hp with that pipe. If you don't know the answer please don't post up false information.
You should never really loose much top end when you do a pipe, filter, ecm remap. It should still top out at 138 or really close to that.
The only wait to lose top end would be to regear the sprockets to bigger sprockets.

Exactly...no amount of engine work, Air/Fuel, pipes, even Turbo's will increase/decrease your top speed. It will only get you there faster. The only way to increase/decrerase your top speed is by re-gearing. It probably feels like you have lost top end because you are getting there faster. ( and dont rely too much on what your speedo says, they can be off by 5-10mph )

Welp, just to sorta clear things up and to answer my own question. I had a chance to get a little crazy this last weekend and opened my baby up to hit a top speed OF...(DRUM ROLL)........139 MPH. It didnt really take to long to get there, but its just finding a striaght away thats clear of of traffic. Its must have just been the fact that I get to those higher speeds faster that through me when I posted this orig. message.
