So, I got my cable, installed the driver, my device manager says it is under COM5, so I set ECMSpy to COM5. I get nothing, no error messages, nothing.
And yes the bike is switched on.
Any ideas?

I did. It just gave me a small table with TPS, WOT and other values...but still nothing. It said com5 opened at the bottom...that's all. If it's of any help, when I installed the cable drivers, everything seemem to go okay, but when I look at them in the device manager, it shows the driver as a ms driver and won't let me change it. I uninstalled them, but when I try to plug the cable back in it automatically recognizes it and loads the same drivers.

What is the Version of Windows you're working with? I've had massive problems with Vista and USB devices getting recognized. I Should've stuck with XP.

I just went in the options tab and chose the english language. Was kinda hard to find with dutch language at first lol.
ok you say that it connects but you cannot get your eprom
did you go to maps and hit fetch maps? or fetch eprom? Try that.
If that doest work you might have to look at your plug and make sure the pins are seated correctly in the deutch connector

If you haven't already, be sure to click on "view" at the top and set to "professional" if you can't see the e-prom's, etc.

When I say connect, I mean the computer recognized the plug..not that ECMSpy actually did anything. I will try the view function...I haven't had much time to play with it...15 hour days will do that. Trill...I have an '03 9R

have you read the tuning guide yet?
theres a lot to explain otherwise. its much better tune yourself than to get someones map. youll still need to fine tune any map for your bike to get the full potential.

i dunno how to explain this any better, but whether you get another map or not, youll still be doing the same sequence of operations to get it tuned. so you might as well start on it now. that way you dont have to wait for someone to send you a map.
if youd like, i can give a step by step (a condensed version) for logging and adjusting the maps.
but be aware, there are also many changes in the "Other Maps" page that can/need to be done which will greatly help the driveability of the bike as well. its up to you whether or not you want to do it before you start messing with the fuel maps or after, or even doing it at all. but its not required.....i dont think most people make adjustments there because they dont understand what the changes exactly do.
