I have an 03 XB9R and I would like to remove the kick stand censor is it possible to remove this without affecting anything else

I've never tried it on my Buell, but on other (Japanese) machines all you have to do is remove the switch and then hook the wires together (ok, you do have to tape them up, tuck them out of the way, etc., but it's still simple).

yea i did it on my r1 but it isnt the same setup as the buell

Just about everything's different...which I guess is why we bought them.

kick stand censor?  I didnt realize they had one...? but im dumb

I don't think I have a kickstand sensor. If I do, it doesn't do anything.

if you can start your bike with the kickstand down you dont hvae one
Posted:  03 Jul 2008 04:50 [?]
It will shut off the bike if the sidestand is down, you have it in gear and try to release the clutch.  You can still start the bike with the stand down as long as the bike is in neutral.

My '05 XB12s never had one.
Posted:  03 Jul 2008 14:43 [?]
my 04 xb12r doesnt either.

All bikes have to have them, it is a safty thing. If there is not one then it has been removed. When they go bad the bike just will not start, period.

i have an 07 firebolt that i bought brand new. the sidestand switch worked when i bought it but it doesnt now. so i think your info is bad "When they go bad the bike just will not start, period." mine still runs like a champ, with the kickstand down. i have told my dealer to order the part several times so it can be fixed when i come in for something else but as of yet they have not. its kinda dangerous.

Mine has one (03 9R) bike starts normally. Just dies if you try to take off with the stand down.

mines an 08 i  xb12scg  and it will start in or out of gear with stand down, it will take off with stand down i pull up to a gas station kick it down lean it over on it then put it in neutral and shut her down   I ride some friends bikes and always forget about the  stand and kill it to my suprize everytime    Once i thought i had it in neutral with it on its stand as i was beside it i started it let go of the clutch and she justabout ran off without me.

What's going on with this post? The later models obviously don't have a sensor!!    ???
Mine is an '06 and it starts and drives the same whether the "jiffy stand" is up or down.

No kickstand sensor unless it's earlier model

BUELLPARTSGUY What is up with this Kick Stand Sensor Problem that we all seem to be scatching are heads about?
Posted:  08 Jul 2008 04:44 [?]
i have a 2003 xb9r and it wont start unless the kickstand is up it is a little annoying so i am trying to get rid of it
Posted:  08 Jul 2008 15:31 [?]
It will start with it down and in "Neutral". Riding off with the stand down can be pretty hairy when you take that firt left hander.
Posted:  10 Jul 2008 02:21 [?]
mine won't even start in neutral with the kickstand down
Posted:  10 Jul 2008 02:52 [?]
my bike is an 07, it had a sensor when i bought it, but it went out before i had 1k miles. and im at 12k now, still doesnt work but it runs fine. so i believe the newer models have them, i think its standard on any new bike.

Well guys only '03's had them.

drunkinshooter, basic electrical testing will tell you which way to remove it if you want.

If the switch open the circut when down, bridge it

If the switch closes the circut when down, cut it

Hey B.P.G.,

regarding this kickstand killswitch.
I have one boxed. But it's told to be for either a S3T Thumderbolt (i think maybe the M2 Cyclone and Blast also - bad memory.
Well, i never bothered to try installing it to my XB as it seemed it was not designed for this bike? Do you know if these killswitch devices are same for XB as for the S3T?

Thanks!
