Posted:  03 Sep 2009 03:19 [?]
Hey everyone.. Bought my firebolt about a month ago..Ive been lookin at the Jardine GP1 exhaust.. Anyone have any input good or bad about this exhaust? Anyone have any suggestions for a better pipe performance/sound wise? Thanks much all

No Jardine. There are better options.

Drummer... or if you're on the cheap, Voodoo, that's what I run.

Read the shootout for a detailed comparison...

American Sportbike

I've also been talking with Randy at Hawk Performance.  He's a real nice guy who's willing to work to your specifications.  I think I'm going to have him make a pipe for me...Only $175!!

Did you have to buy ECM and do any tuning?
Thanks!

Not sure if you were asking me or Dave, but it appears that most pipe builders (Drummer, Special O.P.S., Voodoo, etc) say that it's not "necessary" although it is always preferred to tune (with ECMSpy).  Randy (Hawk) suggests a re-tune and actually posts Buell race maps on his web site for free!!  I hope that helps???

like what 50dro said, the pipe builders say its not necessary, but that is only if you dont have a intake mod. If you do have an intake mod, you can get a pipe, then load the race ECM. Keep in mind, the race ECM is tuned for the race pipe so it's not exact, but it will work

what is the website that these maps are on?? I am looking to remap but not sure when I can

thanks

I have a GP1 and I think it's alright other than it is not loud enough for me. It looks pretty cool on the bike too.

I just got done putting a special ops on mine, and I am verry happy with it

I just got a pipe done by Randy at hawk performance and it is amazing. It pulls hard at all rpm ranges and sounds awesome. Great pipe and a very nice guy

Does the Hawk muffler use the exhaust valve, or does it eliminate it? The pics on his site looked like it was still installed.
Posted:  26 Sep 2009 02:32 [?]
He doesn't remove it but it is no longer used.

Ummm all I have to say it SICK!..., and What about the header to match ???
Posted:  12 Oct 2009 18:52 [?]
i was told that it is a joint project with buell and  beson or bison not really sure, and these pipes were only to be availible to racing teams ...
the race bike i bought had the whole pipe & the dude threw in this extra canister & a bunch of extras filing my truck & trailer.
almost 2 complete bikes. but it did cost me $10,000
and the bike was not exactly what i was told it was.
i have since sold the bike & most of the parts & bought a 1125r with the money.
there are a lot of misc little parts & hardware  if anyone needs just ask.   sorry to go on & on.
Posted:  12 Oct 2009 19:06 [?]
I would be intrested in the pipe if you have any specifics on the header?

this is the Hal's hd bike pic i found.

http://www.buellxb.com/buell_images/5000_20091012095727_L.jpg

i called them to get some info but the guy i talked to didn't give up to much info or really did not know.

you could probably get one made after seeing this pic
they are just pieced together with heavy springs.

kinda like a ti force & i had one at the same time & that header was real close.
that may be a good start then fab the rest.
that is still gonna cost some $$$.
i think i read this system back in 03-04 was $1300
it is for sale if anyone want to figure it all out.
im not sure about price,i do know they are rare.
thanks for listening  & looking.
any info will be great.

this race canister & clamp in very nice shape $400
Hal's HD used the same pipe on their XB racebike
& should be able to get you one.
not sure on price but would guess not cheap because it probably would be made for you.
i can ship anywhere
email me pritchpj@yahoo.com
thanks ken

That is a great price for an arter market conversion. It looks and sounds great! So whats the catch? Is Randy that cool that hes not trying to rob buell owners like most other conversion pipes? I am picking up my new firebolt next week and I am def calling Randy.
Posted:  16 Oct 2009 02:45 [?]
He is just that cool! and yes the rest are ripping you off to convert an old pipe
Posted:  16 Oct 2009 03:40 [?]
YES...He's definitely that cool!!

As a matter of fact, he called me (and other customers I assume)today to discuss Buell's announcement to make sure that I had heard about it.  That gives you an idea of how much he cares about his customers AND his products and Buells in general.

Give him a call.  It will all make sense once you chat with him for a bit.

I had a Drummer on my xb12...actually an econo drummer and got Kevin to do dual outlets...w/o a doubt the best sound I have ever heard out of a motorcycle! And it is pretty cheap, like 250-300+shipping there and back. Trying to sell my 1125R and buy another 12...you never know what ya got till its gone...

Here is my exhaust.
I am not sure what it is.
My bike had it on when I bought it and there was no paperwork.
It sounds Medieval.

I will get a better pic.
