Well, my wounds have healed (sort of) and im back on the horse trying to get over that shredding feeling on skin on the road. The bike is back and running but with the new D&D its way too loud for the neighbours. Ive been through the threads and seen what people have been doing to the stock exhausts and was wondering if anyone could shine a little light on how to attack it. I E where to cut it and what to remove/leave. From what I can gather just removing the end and cutting out the 'quiet' route would be a real improvement. Anyone have any pics/info or whatever. Any help would be great. The D&D is awsome just way too loud and I cant see an easy way to tone it down so im gonna save it for the lightning I want to get towards the end of the year.

Put it in a box...and mail it to me.  That'll make it quiet enough

There are a few topics on this and even a youtube video.  I suck at posting links, LeFox will chime in I bet with a few.

I drilled about a 1" just behind the stock exit, much improved sound and no noticable power change

If it is too loud for you I will gladly swap you for the Buell Race pipe that I have.  I would like to have the D&D Pipe for sure.  Just let me know.

Im going to keep the D&D just save it for a 900 lightning. the xb12r is my daily rider so it kinda needs to be a little more quiet. I was more interested in how to go about removing the crap out of the stock can (can't watch youtube vids just yet) Hopefully get a look at it over at a friends house.

Has anyone simply tried 'pining' the exhaust valve open with a metal screw??? if so what was the result?
