For a semi just throw a golfball in the tire. Works like a charm, bike probably not so much!
So, I'm not sure if this has been discussed here before but I google searched and found no difinitive answers.
I just mounted a continental conti motion tire on the rear of my xb12r. Only thing is I couldn't find a balance spot marked on the tire. I have run this type of tire before and remember seeing some sort of red or yellow dot annotating a spot that needs to be lined up with the valve stem. This tire had no such markings.
I did find two dots/stickers inside the tire that I figured Id center the valve stem with.
I'll have my local cycle gear balance the tire tomorrow.......
Anyway, I was wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience?
And what kind of DIY contraptions do some of you creative McGyver types have for balancing tires

I mounted the same tires on my bike, and mine didn't have any marks either.
I didn't have new stick on weights, but I just taped the old ones on to test this balancer I got from harbor freight. It worked, but I pulled off the weights, painted the wheels, and mounted them. I don't get any vibrations with no weights on them at all.

Our tire balancer wouldnt fit buell rims so i used balanced beads, 2 ounces rear 1once front, saved me from having to take the back off and going to cyclegear i think there 30 or more a tire now if u didnt buy from them
I cant argue pros or cons with them.
I know my tire had a vibration at 90 without any balance and it went away after beads installed. And you can find them cheap on ebay
Wow, cycle gear charges to balance tires now! Dam, has it been that long since I brought a set to them! My last rear went over 10k and it was balanced by them for free!
I heard tire beads are a PITA to install.
Comments?
I have nothing on my tires and no vibes. I'm sure it various based on wheel/tire though...
I'd do nothing and if needed add the beads, JMO.
i have a truing stand i use to build mx/supermoto wheels from pit posse. i use it to balance those and the buell wheels.
you can usually go by a tire shop and they will give u a strip of stick on weights for free.
i have no experience with the beads.
I have no weights on my conti sport attack II's. No issues. I'm watching tire wear though.
Thanks for the input guys. If my local cycle gear won't do it for free, I'll roll the rear as is. And post back if I feel any vibes or experiance strange tire wear. I'm sure I have a few thousand miles till the front needs to be changed. In the meantime I'll start looking into balancing stands.
Thanks again for the replys.
that will work fine.I did find two dots/stickers inside the tire that I figured Id center the valve stem with.
No-Mar balancer. less than $50 online including freight. extremely accurate...pendulum style...life-time warranty...nice investment.....extremely easy to use. if you buy one and need fresh "stick-on" balancing weights let me know and i'll send you a few packs for free to get you started. In the meantime I'll start looking into balancing stands.
