Does anyone know if I can adjust my clutch myself or if I would have to get HD to do it for me. Not just the clutch cable. My clutch doesn't start biting till about 85% of my release. My bike has about 600 miles on it. I don't think I ate them up that quick.

pick up a service manual and its pretty easy to do at home.  It just that you need the procedure and specs from the book to do it.

dont adjust it i did and blew out my clutch. ive been riding xb12r firebolt for a year. about 200-300 mles after i did i got a tapping noise while in gear, then i was riding cruising at 40 mph went to take off and it felt like the belt broke and just spun up and didnt take off. now i got to take it to the shop.

+1 to the FSM, some patients and basic tools. its simple. should take you about 20min tops. a new gasket is a good idea too.

the XBs are some of the easiest bikes to work on, dont be afraid to maintain your own ride. gives you piece of mind to know its done right. the FSM is worth its weight in gold.. .

It sounds like the clutch cable just needs adjustment.  Unless you ride like you are on the track everyday, you shouldn't need a clutch at 6,000 miles.  There is an accordion style rubber boot covering a section of cable towards the right front of your motor.  Loosen the lock nut and turn the adjusted nut (long nut).  You will notice the clutch lever moving, and you can test drive it to get your preferred "friction zone".
