Thread: XB12 Drivability issue

  1. #1
I have an '07 XB12R with about 3000 miles on it. Starts fine, runs like a strippedassmonkey (SAM) when she is cool...engine temp, not the weather. As I ride around and she warms up, she has noticeable less top end. Bottom end is fine. Once apon a time, about a year ago, I totally lost one cylinder but managed to get her home at 30 MPH. I went to the shop to tear into it the next day and the problem would not duplicate, and hasn't since...I'm totally stumped. The lack of top end means on a straight away in high gear, full throttle, she goes about 95 MPH. It's like she is running our of fuel. No bucking or popping...just doesn't go any faster than 95. I can get about 115 out of her before she warms up.
Everything is totally stock, original spark plugs, wires, everything.
    Thoughts?

The Cam Position Sensor is known to fail resulting in symptoms like you describe. Check the easy stuff first though: battery terminals, grounds, bad gas, plugs, leads & TPS reset may also be the cause and they're easy to rectify....
