does it feel like it is pulsing? If so it's possible the rotor may be warped. I would first try cleaning the rotor and seeing if that does it, also check all mounting bolts to be sure they are not loose.
Hey guys. just purchased an 03 xb9r. the front brake seems a little wobbly when i put slight pressure on it. its hard to describe but it is not a smooth pull. is there anything i can do to fix this or check what is wrong? its not terrible and i can still ride its just bugging me.

Had kind of the same problem on the Nurburgring. Check to see if the rotor is jamed in one place were it mounts to the rim. Come to find out the front rotor is a floating one. Hope this helps
I've had two of these buells with massive front rotors.
Both have felt like something is pertruding or bend but i really think it's just such a large rotor your going to get alot of feed back.
How many miles are on the bike?
I have had a similar problem...my bike applies steady even smooth pressure but it makes a noise when I apply the front brake.....like a pulsing whistling almost....the rotor is a newer afternarket one so Idk what it could be especially because it stops very quickly and smoothly...any ideas?
the bike has 18K on it. I guess i could try cleaning it and checking it with a straight edge. so these big rotors kind of have this feel to them?
It's a floating disc rotor, and a big one, they will make some noise. If it's smooth and easily modulated (functions correctly) then it's most likely ok. They do make some noise, again the nature of a floating rotors. If all the hardware is tight, and the disc is able to float at every mounting point, and all 6 pistons in your caliper move freely then I'd say don't worry about it. But I'm not there to listen to your bike so take it to a professional if you don't feel competent enough to give a good check over your self.
For the OP, my advice is the same but with more concern. There shouldn't be any wobble or pulsing. It can be caused by a warped rotor (only correct fix is to replace), or it could be the rotor is not floating properly. There is a built in amount of "play" and there are also springs. Make sure the rotor is free to move side to side at every mounting bolt and the springs are holding the rotor against the back side of the mounting bolt. You can also get pulsing from uneven glazing or corrosion on the rotor surface. Some brake cleaner and scotch bright pad (or steel wool) can fix this. WATCH THE PAINT on the rims though, brake cleaner can ruin it. You could use a less harsh of a solvent that's paint friendly, just make sure what ever it is, it doesn't leave any sort of film or lubrication behind (such as WD-40, that would be a bad idea).

Lucky! I have always wanted to ride/ drive on that track!Had kind of the same problem on the Nurburgring.
04xb12sIt could be your brake pads too, I have the Lyndall Golds and they make a lot of noise. Cant speak for aftermarket. If it feels smooth that i wouldn't worry about it. Check your hardware and make sure its all there ^^^ and tight.I have had a similar problem...my bike applies steady even smooth pressure but it makes a noise when I apply the front brake.....like a pulsing whistling almost....the rotor is a newer afternarket one so Idk what it could be especially because it stops very quickly and smoothly...any ideas?

Brake pads can make noise too! I totally forgot to mention that!

ive had brake pulsing issues too (20k on the rotor), i just bought a new rotor from ebr and the new style mounting hardware. im pretty convinced it will solve my problems. and i got some lyndall gold brake pads too.
