so yesterday my shifter linkage broke an i had to ride home with the bike in 3rd gear i got the part at the buell dealer and fixed it this morning while out riding arround i noticed that once i hit 5 thousand rpm it feels like the clutch is slipping because it revs up fast did i burn up my clutch ridin in third gear?

my guess would be that you kind of 'polished' the plates.
i would take a look and atleast change the oil.

And or the linkage still needs to be adjust a little more, make sure that the cable up by your clutch lever has no more than a 1/8" gap when you pull on the cable itself away from the lever.

But at the same time you want about a 1/8" gap, not enough play will also cause it to want to slip out at higher rpm's.
