I've had my Lightning since April and i haven't seen another one around here on the road since.  Only a few Blasts...

I suppose that's why I like the bike so much!!   It's very unique (or at least uncommon) and it definitely turns heads!  I'm having a blast (no pun intended)on it!!

Ride safe!!

Cool lookin bike!  I've done some riding in Ohio before.  I used to live in Beaver Falls so riding to Boardman or Salem was always fun...

Pabueller:

I bet one of those bikes is mine now.  I bought mine from a guy out there.  It's a red/gold 2004 XB12S.  Unfortunately, I can't make it out to Thunder in the Valley this weekend...Maybe next year???

Sounds good!!  Have fun out there & be safe.

I'll let you know if I'm out your way and you let me know if you come my way (Cranberry Twp).  There is a bike night every Thursday night at Quaker Steak & Lube.

Take Care!

Your out in Cranberry? I work in Bakerstown/Gibsonia and live in Blawnox. I ride rt. 910 out to work when its nice on my '06 XB12Ss (bought it new in '08 for $200 off). I've seen a few other Buells in the area including 2 XB9 CityX, and a Cherry Bomb Red XB12Sscg. I saw a woman riding a Orange one with a race kit one time and never saw her again.

The only thing I don't like is that I have to drive an hour (on the turnpike) to reach any of the 3 Buell dealerships around here.

Definitely have to meet up sometime.

which buell dealerships you go to?
Posted:  30 Jun 2009 02:58 [?]
Yep...I'm in Cranberry...Near the auto auction.  I used to live in Gibsonia on Sandy Hill Road, so I know that area pretty well.  As a matter of fact, I just rode 910 to Blawnox a few weeks ago with some friends.  910 is always a fun ride.

I hear ya on riding the pike.  One minute is too long on that road (especially on the bike)!!

Luckily, I haven't needed a dealer yet.  The closest to me would be New Castle HD.

Maybe we can meet up at a bike night sometime??

Sure. That'd be great. I won't be able to make it this Thursday but next week may be a possiblity.

I got the bike from Highland HD in Somerset. I realized I said I got it for $200 off. I meant $2000 off. I almost got a black w/ gold wheeled 04 XB12S from New Castle HD for $7000. They sold it about 2 minutes before I got there to take a look at it (literally).

The other dealership is Cerini HD in Rostraver, PA on Rt 51.

So what all do you guys have done to your bikes so far?

I have:
-Breather Reroute w/catch can (Air compressor filter from Lowe's works great)

-Fender chop

-Custom home built LED tail light with integrated turn signals using Luxeon K2 LEDs.

These are really bright. I added a diffuser to help dim them down slightly. 6 red LEDs at full power for brakes, 2 red LEDs at half power for running lights, and 2 yellow LEDSs at full power for the blinkers.

The yellows actually show through the red lense a nice yellow/amber color they are so bright. I can post pics or a vid sometime.

Hey there fellas, I'll chime in since I went to school in the Burgh. I'm currently in Western NY state near Buffalo now, but I keep my eye out for Buells on the southside when I visit...

On a side note, you all should be sure to put yourselves on the Buell rider map.

Otherwise I was thinking not many people were in my area... if you're gonna lurk, at least let us know where you sleep!

Sidewinder, i bought my bike at cerinis but am having a bad situation with them trying to get my first tune up done so i am going to go to highlands which is only about 30 mins from me

I think I added myself correctly to the rider map...

As far as mods go...

bar end mirrors

removed all dummy stickers and reflectors

removed rear pegs

chopped tail and mounted plate under the seat

LED plate lights

LED signals front and rear

LED bulb in tail

Painted side pieces behind shield and tail satin black

That's it for now...I think the next step is the exhaust/K&N...been looking at the DIY mods on here but I'm not sure that's the best way to go...Now, it looks like ECMspy might be hard to get a hold of!!

Yea, sucks Xopti shutdown. He's apparently still selling cables though and you can still buy them from ASB. I have the program and Megalog Viewer and was thinking about doing some extensive research into tuning it myself.

pabueller, Sorry to hear your having trouble with Cerini's. Are they just refusing to do it?

Highland has good service. They were pretty helpful and gave me a card for free 1000 mi. service for buying my bike from them. That might be something all dealers do but it was nice nonetheless.

I'm looking to get an exhaust am possibly looking into either getting a spec ops one or doing it myself. My can has a big dent at the front end and I doubt anyone would take it for a core charge. I am also working on my own open air kit using plexiglass.

Sidewinder, i have called numerous times and they either say they are patching me through then they just hang up or i get patched through, they ask what kind of bike i have and when i tell them buell they say ok hold on let me check the book and then hang up again. And no i didnt get anything like that from cerinis. So i called highland yesterday and got my check up schelduled for july 10th at 9am. So i have to keep off the bike as much as possible but its hard. lol

Mods so far
bar-end mirror (left side)
Buell frame graphics
removed pass pegs
removed all stickers and reflectors
removed belt guards
just ordered led turn signals
removed handlebar guards/ grille...

So far thats all

Nice bike. Staying off it shouldn't be to bad with all the rain were getting, at least until Friday. Kinda sucks about Cerini's. Then again, they didn't seem to enthusiastic when I said I wanted to take a look at their Buells. I hate when places give bad service.

I am about an hour south of Pitts in Morgantown, WV.  We should meet up some time.  I have only past a lightning in my area lately.  When college comes back in there are a couple more, but not much.

Yeah well maybe next time I am home we can go out for a ride a lot of good roads around the WV PA OH lines.
