Hi, just planning to buy a European XB12Scg.
And at the moment i am definitly looking at the new 2009 model with the black frame.

Even the 95HP (due to cataliser) will satisfy me for the moment.

But I would really like to know what is the best option to add some real sound and power.

So I am looking at a Remus Exhaust (legal, with cataliser). Anyone have good sugestions or even experience in the combination with Open Filters and Remus powerizer?
I guess the guys in Austria will have there unit set up correctly to work flawless with their exhaust from the start.
But what would be the perfect combination of parts with the new Buell ECM?

The Remus is also supplied with Legal, louder and race inserts. Is anything needed after changing this? I hear new Buell ECM is more flexible(learning) on this matter. I would probably change the inserts regularly as I would like to keep friends with my neighbours. And normally will start the bike in the basement of my apartment in Spain ;-).

Thanks for all information.

new buell ecm isn't more flexible, it just doesn't need to be reset before learning when riding in closed loop.
but then you will need to ride in closed loop everytime you changed anything to give the ecm a chance to learn.

aslong if you can't remap the ecm, i would suggest not running an open airfilter.

OK.

So what would be the advantage (or need!) of buying the powerizer?
In other words, with only the Exhaust fitted, would I be without problems? Will it need any change to the ECM? Or would the box give improvements?

If there is no real added value of the box, then I will most probably just wait. Until some more 2008-ECM maps are available with open airfilter setups.

I am not very fond of experimenting, even with the help of some so called "experts" who just got access to a dyno.

All I am looking for is a nice hasslefree bike, with great sound and torque.

Thanks for all info.

As far as I know, there's no Powerizer for the '08 and '09 models. If you don't know some one who can remap your original ECM, you just have to drive with the original ECM. If the only modification on your '09 XB an open exhaust is (no open airfilter), a remap is not really necessary. With a K&N I suggest to do a remap.
I have 5.000 km's on my 2008 XB with Remus, without dB-killers. And he's not abnormally running hot, no coloured headers, no fancooling while driving,...

keep the airfilter stock, just run the exhaust...it's not ideal, but neither is the stock setting

Thanks for the information.

I am happy to hear your experience Jakkel.
I also want to get the right side air scoop. Apart from looking a lot better, the air flow will also help keeping the fan down.
So it will probably become the exhaust modification only (that is until the ECM modifications become available!).

Also to LeFox; Thanks for the info on the Powerizer. It looks to me that there is no real need for it now.

I just hope Erik will not skip the Harley V-twin completely. I am sure that for many enthousiasts this is the real heart of a Buell streetfighter. But time will show.
I count myself as a XB-V-twin-air-cooled fan.
