I just purchased the 1125CR headlight and Flyscreen to put on my XB9S. I haven't seen it done except on an older Buell (not sure of the model). I'm pretty sure it's not going to bolt right up but I don't care, I love that front headlight assembly.
I'll post pictures of the process when the parts come in. |

I'd like to see what you're thinking Hoverjocki.
I figured I'd do this in stead of waiting for another set of plastics. I couldn't find any good deals. this is gonna cost me 208. |

Looks like it's coming along nicely. You going to paint it yellow to match the bike or what else did you have in mind?

Thanks. Drilling the nipples were a bit of a pain cause I smoked my good drill that could hold the bigger bits so I had use a smaller bit to widen the holes. Another issue was trying to keep the ignition in the same spot to be able to lock it. It's hidden behind the light pointing down and to the left because the gauges had to be on top.
Unfortunately I had my eager brother helping me, he was dying to go for a ride on the twisties around here. I told him to notch a half moon shape to be able to get the key in and out of the side. He took a hole cutting bit and drilled straight into the side of the plastic, not even where the key needs to go. I know it's a little thing but I did my damnedest to keep it a clean look. |

Just curious what the whole unit cost you??

I think the headlight and flyscreen cost me roughly 200. I had scrap aluminum around the garage to create the mounts. I'll put up more pictures later to show the work.
I used my original gauges just mounted alittle higher than stock. |

| Now you need to do a black plastic swap to lose the yellow and match the flyscreen. Now people really won't know what the hell your bike is. | |

| Was the light connection just plug and play or did you have to re-wire | |

xtremelow: I know but who in their right mind wants to trade black for yellow, cause I ain't paying for them.
The wiring was tricky for me to understand but a breeze for my father. Our plugs have the four points and the cr has five. Either the high beam or the low beam has a different color ground running to it. I thought you'd have to figure out which one was the ground before splicing it into to black ground wire. My father talked some electronic engineer mumbo jumbo but then showed me that it didn't matter to the bulb which side was the positive or negative. So we spliced one of the two into the black ground, replaced the connectors to fit into our stock adapter, plugged it in and it worked. |

Two layers of 8th inch thick aluminum
Ignition pointing down to the right
The whole my brother cut out.
Simple tabs to hold the guages

Damn I had the same idea after demo riding the CR.
That looks really good, no one will even know what bike it is now. Is the throw of the light that good mounted on a lightning compared to how it mounts on the CR? |

| I was a little worried about the lights angle but the light shoots straight out. Honestly, I wanted this headlight so bad, I didn't care if it pointed at the tire. I love the look. | |

I thought about a kit but, when I buy a kit and it has a couple of pieces aluminum that anyone could get at lowes or something, it ticks me off. I mean if I could machine a nicer set up, that would be something else. If anyone really wants to do this I can talk anyone through the issues they might face.
Really, the biggest issue was drilling the nipple holes in the triple tree. I didn't try to remove it so the drill was at an odd angle. |

I just bought the CR headlight, harness, and bracket assembly to put on my XB9SX.
I'll be making some nice brackets and drilling and tapping the triples to mount it. I also may machine some mounts for the cluster. |

Actually, the CR headlight doesn't point down, it appears to, but actually the bulbs point straight forward and so do the reflectors. The lens angles down, the sides of the lens angles up and the fly screen covers them slightly in the center to give it a downward angled look. The light actually reflects straight out like a standard light.
This shows pretty good:
