Wheelie wise

. I was thinking of sapping on some of the experienced people's knowledge here.

Question is:

Theoretically, excluding all external factors such as rider experience size and posture, how much extra torque would I need on an XB12Ss to make it wheelie as easily as a XB12S?

Consider:
More Fuel in tank (shouldn't be much of an issue as fuel is in the chassis = centralized weight)
Significantly longer wheelbase and some altered dimensions.

Reason I ask is I see many threads are dedicated to easy power wheelies, then I wondered why I couldn't do it even if I try all day. Then it hit me that I had an Ss and it might not be me after all!

Also suggestions for where Id obtain just the right amount of torque would be appreciated.

Well it's not to contradict you but I took an Ss on a test ride the other day and to my surprise it wheelied without even trying, the only thing different on it was a Jardine pipe. I was really surpeised since it's a Ss but I tried again after and it did wheelie no problem, I'm not talking about a pivot point wheelie but still a nice acceleration one with a bit of preload but not much. Note here that I'm nowhere a wheelie king so it should be possible for anybody if I can.

i havw an scg and it will just get the wheel off the ground in 1st whithout clutch and a full tank... but i suck so whoknows.

Completely true, it is still very easy to get the wheel off the ground on an Ss just by hard acceleration. I've even gotten the wheel in the air while changing 3->4th. It still stands as a torque beast and that Im not questioning. Just that it doesnt really go past that except with 2nd gear clutch action.

My question refers to keeping it high enough that the speedometer blocks your vision without the clutch

. (this Ive seen done plenty of times live and video on very slightly modified XB12S)

I would say just it to 4k revs/preload/pin it. Saves your bike the wear from slipping the clutch. I think I must still just be getting used to my Buells weight also cuzz it seemed MUCH easier on my old Yamaho. Is that cuzz my revs are more than half of the 4banger?

Tried that hundreds of times, front wheel barely gets off the road.

Nope, revs are irrelevant when wheeling, meaning higher rev doesnt always mean wheelie.

All you have to be at is max torque on the rpm for maximum wheelie power. (6000 on the buell afaik, CAREFUL THOUGH,, can possibly send you into a 12 o clock wheelie with clutch.)

Im not sure man, I know I still have probs keeping the wheelie going, but getting it off the ground im getting better at. Im riding the XB12R so it probably very different, but wheelies seem harder on my Buell compared to the 4bangers. Id say if you really want more wheelies and not too concerned about highway time, put a xb9 sprocket on Her.

you need to disable the timing retard right in that RPM range in the ECM. it helps.

they use it to pass sound tests. if you ask me, its lame.

I was thinking of replacing my pulley with a larger one as that would be the easiest way to get some torque out of my bike. Unfortunately, I need that extra rpm I already find myself cruising on the highway between 4k and 5k (about 100mph).

Excuse my clueless-ness, but how would I be able to do that?
