Long story short. I rent a house and a beam in the garage fell on my xb12ss during this long miserable winter. My handlebars are bent. I've looked on ebay and american sportbike. Ebay only has the clubmans.I know nothing about them. American sportbike has medium rise and low rise renthals. I know nothing about them as well.

Any suggestions? Whats the scoop on the clubmans and the renthals?

What riding position do you want? Same as stock? There are a milion option, as any 7/8 bar will fit. Most use motocross bars such as renthal or protaper. They are available in different heights, but most will be lower than stock. If you look for steel 7/8 handlebars on ebay, there are lots of cheap options (if that's what you are looking for). I beleive they ones called "Euro" are close to the same dimensions as out stock bars.

Oh, and clubmans would put you in a much more aggressive position, and may require some alteration to your clutch cable routing.

I have been thinking about a bar change as well for my 9SX. I like the 'look' of the Renthals, the color choices and all, but I'd like to stay as close to the stock specs as I can. Hopefully we can BOTH score from this post?! :)

They will fit not problem. Pretty much any 7/8 bar will fit not problem, unless you get clubmans (that go down and around the headlight housing instead of up), or ape hangers, which I don't think is the look you are going for, lol.

If you have no experience with this, and you aren't very mechanically inclined, it may take you a bit to do it, but it's all doable. Probably the hardest part for a newb is getting the hole drilled in the bars for the switch housing. It can be a challenge to get it in just the right spot. you can use the stock bar to estimate the correct location, but I would "dry fit" everything in case the bends in the bars are in different spots, forcing you to move the perches and housing further in or out from the end of the bar.

Aside from that, cut off the grips, unscrew the housings and the loosen the clutch cable, unscrew the clutch perch, the brake perch, slid them off, remove the 4 bolts on the clamp, swap out the bars and put everything back on (you will need new grips).
