Did I forget to mention the mileage...
I'm toppin' 5k on my Metzeler Sport Tech M1's rear. Front get's three changes or 15k. I have a prob with my front tire cupping. Was MUCH MUCH worse with them worthless Dunlops i used to run. But even my M1s are beginning to cup here @ 14k. Most of the treads gone anyhow. I'm runnin' 36 to 38 lbs in the front... Am I the only one??? Robtk! a.k.a. "Special K" Quote:

Where I come from, we call that a "challenge". Not a problem. Only problem there is you ain't tryin' hard enough... I've hit the same roads as when I was on a 180 rear (1/8" max strip), feel like I was faster going up the knobs and even scraped my foot for the first time, but there's still 3 times as much strip as I had with the 180 since my 190 is taller and has more surface area that requires leaning over more to get to. |

| I hated the stock dunlop, only got about 3,400 miles, I was told the qualifiers were better, got 6500 miles with those, now I have the conti Road Attacks, wow, talk about falling into corners, I'm impressed but only have 200 miles on them, I also went to a 190, can't tell the difference. Anyway The mechanic said I should get 7500 miles out of them at least. | |

| So I just noticed that the Diablos i had on there were 180/55's, I had thought(assumtions is the mother of all F#&ckups) they were 180/50s. My new tire is the Pilotroad2 190/50, Will this effect handling because it shortens the rear? Even though the tire has a much more profound curve to it? and should I tweak my suspension after the install? | |

| I didn't make any suspension changes after the switch. I liked how it rode and stuck with it. | |

| Sweet, I cant wait to get off work and get the new tire on. My local shop said they'd only charge me a half hour of labor to take the wheel off, remount the tire and remount the wheel...The stealership quoted me 1 1/2 hours...figures | |

| The good thing I've found with Michelin is that they don't take much to scrub in other than wearing the nipples off. I've heard of other brands having a lot of mold release compound to get rid of. | |

Well after two days of riding im really impressed. So far no negative, everything seems a bit smoother. Iv noticed ALOT more grip, and last night and this morning it was raining a bit. No more mud all over the tail section of my Firebolt, it does a really good job of channeling the water away. And the front tire comes off the ground MUCH easier, and feels alot smoother. But like Nub said...bigger chicken strips. Im heading over to seattle this weekend and will make them smaller going over the passes
Great tire ![]()

could you post a picture specifically of the gap between the tire and belt/belt guard?
Appreciate it I am looking to put on 200/50/17 on my bike and just trying to get a better idea of my available space. |

| The best thing for you to do is get a used/junk 200/50 tire put on your XB wheel and mount it on the bike. Squeezing an even wider tire on the wheel will change the way it fits on the bike, you can't really compare the shape of a 190 with what the shape of a 200 tire will be like. | |

I lnow the 200/50 will be a squeeze but I like the subtle wide look it allows. Is the 190/50 a noticable width difference or not?
I would like to have the time and tools to just throw a 200 on just to measure but I know mounting a tire just to check gap would be way to much work. |

| I do notice the difference, everyone who had seen my bike beforehand notice also. Took her over the passes to Seattle this weekend and I really like the feel of it. I myself might be a bit worried pushing it to a 200. I feel a pretty big difference in the handling, ALOT more grip on the corners, but there is a huge drop in when your carving tight corners...scared me a bit at first but im getting used to it now. I think a 200 would prolly be a drastic change from the stock 180. | |

| When you put the 190 on the smaller rim you pull the outside edges in to fit on the rim. There for it will be very hard to get to the edge of the tire like you did on the 180, because the sides are high and more parrallel to the road surface. | |

| is there any difference in height with the 190/50 vs. the 180/55 when mounted on the rim? | |

The pilot Road 2 looks like a great tire....
I definitley stand by Michelin.. smooth ride, great handling wet or dry, and look clean... I currently have a set of Pilot Powers on my R1 and they have about 6000kms on them already... and they're still in great condition! My next set is going to be Pilot Power 2CT... I've heard nothing but good things from this tire. |

Ya, I just went for lunch and its POURING rain out there. No more wet backpack, keeps all that dirty water off the back of my bike, and it dont every feel it slip except when going over crosswalks. I love that tire.
On a side note, anyone have any idea why only my right pant leg gets wet? At first I had thought it was my front tire, but its only my right pant legs so.... i dunno I even try and keep it tucked as close to the bike as possible. Edit: There is a much bigger drop in on tight leans now that im on my 190, i didnt adjust my suspension at all. |

Hey how do you know when to change the tires? i've got almost 9000 miles on my stock 2005 xb9sx tires, it's starting to wear down in the middle but it doesnt seem that bad. i was wondering because some are saying they are only getting 4,5,6 thousand miles. thanx

Clearance is fine, it's not close to the stock splash guard. Any chance of squeezing a 200 into the rear end? |
