the cables aren't long enough. I had to cut my renthal fat bars when I installed them and they are pretty much the same size. they were factory dirtbike bars and i believe I cut 1/2 inch of each side. i couldnt notice the difference.
I'm planning on installing ProTaper SE Carmichael bars today and wondering if it is necessary to cut the bars down to narrow them? (I searched, but couldn't find a definitive answer.)
I have broad shoulders and longish arms and find the stock bars narrow. I don't want to end up cutting them and finding the new bars equally narrow.
Is cutting them based on personal comfort, or is it a fitting issue?

I tried cutting off a 1/2" off each side but my throttle cables just won't reach.
I guess I could cut another 1/2" and see.
Any suggestions?
Didn't end up cutting any more; took off the fly screen and adjusted the cables and the just about reach.

One last question, how far forward can the bars be rotated? I seem to find them comfortable as set above, but that looks to be pretty far forward based on the markings. Is this okay to do?
Whatever is comfortable for you. Keep in mind those marking are in mind for being mounted on a dirt bike. It's just for reference.
