I just replaced my fuel pump (rebuilt with new filter, pump E2061, regulator, strainer, o-rings) and I installed new injectors. I had also done the intake seals and replaced the Rocker cover gaskets a few days earlier.

I needed to do a tps reset and after going through that process I went to crank her up. She started, but then soon after she died. I tried this a few more times and she would start, then die. And finally I tried to many times, the battery soon gave out. Afterwards, all you could hear was the starter clicking. I had charged the battery over night and then once it would crank. I took it to have it tested at Batteries Plus, just in case. They said it was fine. It's a 2yr old HD battery.

After trying to find similar issues, I think it may be something with the fuel. As in my fuel pump. Maybe it isn't pressuring correctly. Maybe I installed the regulator wrong or maybe a o-ring twisted in installation. I made sure to take my time with everything and checked to make sure things looked good.

I had removed my swingarm, so I had all the room in the world to insert the pump.

Currently I am backtracking for anything I may have missed, but I have a bad feeling it may be something back at the pump.

Any input would be help. Thanks gents.

Have you hooked your bike up to ECMspy and tried reading the codes?
Also, while you were doing the TPS reset did you notice if you were or were not getting a signal from the TPS?
Check that your injectors are hooked up correctly.
Just go through everything under the airbox and make sure everything is connected correctly.
That's all I can think of off hand for now.
    Good luck.

    Good luck.
    Thanks alot!!!

I went back and rechecked connections, fuel injectors (made sure front/rear), fuel line...etc. And everything looked good.

No codes. There was a little bit of white smoke from the muffler, but I read that might be normal.

Also, while you were doing the TPS reset did you notice if you were or were not getting a signal from the TPS?
Yea, I just tried again. And I was getting all the readings and good response from the the throttle to ecmspy.

Looks like I'm dropping the fuel pump again. And I just put a nice batch of Redline in the swingarm. Will see if I can rig it so I don't disconnect the lines this time. And I'll miss my track day....whoohooo!

At least I fixed the broken fuel level sensor! :)

    Back to work!

The technical way is fuel pressure test to verify
or you pull it and make sure your pump fits snug inplace and hasnt seperated.

Does the pump prime when the kill switch is flipped to the on position?
Have you checked all your fuses?
When you did the rebuild on the pump did you repair any frayed wires?
I hope the issue is in the fuel pump. Sounds like everything else has been checked.
Let us know what you discover when you pull that pump

I can hear the pump prime when the kill switch is turned on. Pump is louder than my old one.

I checked my fuses and everything seems to be in order.

When I replaced the pump, none of the other wires looked frayed. Only the fuel level sensor was broken from corrosion.

The bike ran before I pulled the pump, so unless its something obvious where visually a mistake was made, I may put the old pump back in or get a different one from Amazon for $20.

Have you checked the polarity (power wires may need to be reversed). You may be hearing it prime but depending on polarity it may not actually be sucking fuel, you might just be blowing bubbles in the tank.

I made sure to get the correct wire on the right connector. I took some pictures and from what I have, the wire (yellow/orange stripe) goes on the negative and the solid grey wire goes on the positive. The shorter wire is for the fuel level sensor. That is what is was on the original fuel pump from the photo I took.

Unless the pump has the negative and positive reversed, which I doubt. But I will see whats, what, when I get the pump off again. Just a pain in the ass to redo something like this.

Also I think or assume the polarity is correct, as the bike did turn over and stay on a few seconds before it died. Not sure if it could do this if it wasn't sucking in fuel.

    Much thanks for the input.

Won't get to it until a few days....will post my findings. Hopefully it is something visually fubared.

    Cheers!
