Finally, I got my new black 2009 XB121Scg! Personally, this bike's definitely like no other.
Anyway, I've been reading a lot of topics here in buellxb.com. I got some ideas and compiled a wish list of modifications for my new bike like the tail chop, a carbon fiber liter air box, chromed wheels, etc. And most especially that all time famous gas mask on typeone's headlights on his 05 xb12. His bike just inpired me to do mods on mine. Of course he gets all the credits when someone asks me where I got these ideas. But main problem is I'm all out of budget. So if I can just get some ideas on how much these modifications are, it will be really helpful for me.
Thanks again, buell lovers!

all depends on where you live and what quality you get.
the only thing on your given list that others can help with is the tail chop, which is free.
carbon fiber depends on quality, manufacturer, location.
chromed wheels depends on what you can do yourself and who you are going too.

It is a 2009 break it in before you start to do mods to it. Plus there isn't going to be any aftermarket for that bike for another 10 months anyway. It is too new to have aftermarket already.

Quality of work on those parts, more specifically the Carbon Fiber Liter Airbox, if carbon fiber isn't finished properly it will fade really bad and rather quickly, looks horrible. As far as chroming the wheels...did you mean chroming the ones you have or buying chrome ones for it?

Probably chroming the ones that I have. I'm guessing I'd be cheaper to choose that path.

Perhaps, but once again, you have to find someone that does quality work. Otherwise, you'll end up paying for it again when you have to have it redone to fix the first guys screw-up....but hey, you knew that.

Not always, we have specific wheels so aftermarket may be out of the question ( dont know never really checked into it ) Also alot of places will have a core charge...they'll ship you someone elses wheels that are finished then credit you a certain amount when you ship them yours, that may be the best route for you there.
Another idea would be to powder coat them. Someone posted here awhile ago about a powder coat that looks like a polished aluminum/chrome. Real sweet and may be the cheapest alternaive to get the look you want. ( I think it was posted by AZnow or ASZnow, something like that )

About the chrome Powder coating, i worked at a powder coatig shop a few years back, and the chrome was not very durable, it was a two step process with a base and then a clear and it just didnt cure right with the two coats, on rims it would never last or stand up to the abuse, people always came back with problems with it. Unless they have a better product now, it has been a few years.

It was probably a good thing I didn't see this post earlier. I would've bought and now it would be in a salvage yard with the rest of my bike.
