Thread: Sorry, we don't touch Buell's

  1. #1
That's what I was just told by Harley of New Orleans. I asked, not even to put tires on and he said nope. Then I called Northshore Harley and he said the same thing. I asked if they would put my tires on it and he said yeah...for 200 dollars. RIDICULOUS!!! I bet if I ride over there on my Harley and tell them I want to trade it in on something and while I'm there mention I need tires put on my "other" bike they will jump at the chance! To bad I don't want any of the crap their pedaling.

That sucks. One of my local HD dealers is super cool. They still have Buell posters up and the owner and his kid used to race them. They are super helpful ordering parts. Never tried them on service.

Can you take the wheels off yourself? Just about any M/C shop will mount and balance the wheels if they are off. Should be around 35-60 bucks tops to mount and balance. Taking a bike into a dealer to have wheels removed and tires mounted that you didn't buy from them will yield different results anywhere. Same goes with a car or truck.

yea, some dealers are like that, have found a few that will take care of my Buell, I do my own maintenance and remove my wheels when tires need to be replaced at a local shop, though not HD shop.

HD of Annapolis does my wheels, never any fuss. I pull them off my bikes though, no one touches mine except my tuning buddy

In Cali, if it doesn't have a Buell Logo outside, they will not touch the bike. Unless you have bought or own something from them. But I take my new tires to Cyclegear as they only charge $25 bucks a tire to mount and balance. Most places charge 30-50 bucks a tire.

Not every Harley dealer sold Buells.

I change tires myself, all you need is a pry bar, some cardboard and a dozen or so zip ties, its really easy. If you have a Harbor Freight bead breaker it takes about 15 minutes once the wheel is off the bike. Michelin Pilots usually don't need any balance, I always check static balance with the axle and a sawhorse, never had a balance problem.

Screw Harley, and their unreasonable shop rates!!

Sound like a stupid comment?! Wait for it.......... For the record.....that particular Yamaha dealers labor rate is EXACTLY the same as my Harley dealer.....so screw THEIR unreasonable rates as well!!!

You don't need to be a Buell dealer to change a tire, Harley or other. And, I have had so called Bell/Harley dealer locally tell me he doesn't touch Buells. That dealer sucks all the way around and I won't give him my money. And The local Kawasaki dealer put tires on my 1125r.
