I just bought a new 2008 xb12s California model.  Does anybody know what they've done to detune the CA. model.  There is what appears to be a charcoal canister hanging off the left side.  This thing does'nt appear in other photos I've seen.  Leave to CA detune everything from a weed wacker to a chainsaw. Also wonder what they've done to the exhaust and anything else.  Thanks in advance for any help

I have been wondering the same thing. My bike was first sold in CA.

as far as i remember from someone else from ca, was this was added so the engine's would run within the harder environmental laws. don't think they did anything to the muffler, though.
