Thread: Clutch shell and sprocket

  1. #1
I am investigating the rattle from the engine again, so I removed the primary cover for another inspection. Should you be able to get movement from the Clutch shell sprocket of has something gone wrong.

If so what would be my next step in rectifying the issue

minimal at best. the shaft attachment nut is left hand threads.....CC to tighten.
the basket end support bearing is large needle bearing affair. accessible for examination after removing diaphragm spring and associated hardware. if it is shot the usual result is noise, rattling, constantly loose primary chain, alot of shavings on the drain plug magnet.

I do have allot of noise when cruising around
I think there is more than just a bit of movement
Do you need any special tools to get to the nut and bearings.

you'll need a buell or sporster spring compression tool to remove diaphragm spring and hold-down hardware. a local shop or mechanic might lend you same for the job. an impact wrench greatly eases shaft nut removal.
