Does anyone have any ideas about how to keep the heat off my right thigh? I thought about blocking off the seat holes under the seat or wrapping the pipes. Any ideas?
thanks

I'm thinking about doing the pipe wrap myself, it should help a bit. Some people have made heat shields for under the seat, dont know how well it works though.

i have noticed the heat most when wearing thinner pants. Jeans seem ok but with kahki's you really feel the heat. I am wondering if the right side scoop would help cool the engine more? I live in florida and these 90+ days the bike gets pretty warm, although i think i am gonna love the heat in the winter.
I am thinking of getting the pipe wrap to try, but dont want to waste money on it if it is just a theory and doesnt actually work.

the rh airscoop does help...i tell you, the vent hardly ever runs since i've installed the thing.
the thermowrap is also solution, but it doesn't help you with the heat coming from the engine.
whatever you do, do not block off the seat holes...the hot air needs that flow to get enough cooling for the rear cilinder.

that's easy to make yourself, but keep in mind that cooling the rear cilinder will be much more difficult that way...
so when you drive alot at low speed in high temp...beware of heat damage to the engine!

I bet the liquid cooled Buell 1125R will address some of the heat issue.

I've got some wrap for mine too. Any tips for a rookie wrapper?

Got it. I bought the wider wrap so I should be able to do that consistently.

why?
would think the other way around, since that part is hidden behind the chin.

I started top down. I have seen a few and they all started that direction as well. Oh well, I am not redoing it!

I used the 2" wrap and overlapped much more than 1/4 ". I think it worked beautifully. It looks nice and this, along with amsoil really does keep my bike cooler. My fan definitely comes on less and we are in the middle of some serious heat. RH Scoop will also get done at some point.

My husband and I both have XB12's, his pipe is ceramic coated on the inside and and 2 coats on the outside (which I understand is standard) mine are not. HUGE difference!!!! don't know if it works better then the wrap but it sure looks better!!!

yep...the inside coat will not help that much unless you got some serious drag-power egine under there.
the outside does make a difference and helps a bit more than the wrap.

Sorry Zoe, I don't remember. I bought mine at an auto parts store. I bought the black header wrap for a 4 cyl. There was plenty left over. It did help the heat, but I don't like it as much as ceramic coating. I will get them coated at some point.

Ceramic would be nice for sure, I went ahead and ended up wrapping my pipes and it took just under 50 ft of the 1" in black then used the black sealing heat spray stuff they suggested...it turned out pretty nice..took some time though and it does seem to help with the heat... It looks so cool
