Ehh I've seen worse. Your gonna have to pull the cover off to see whats going on. When you pull in the clutch does it feel like it's disengaging?
Last weekend I lowsided my 09 xb12 on some gravel. I was only doing about 20 mph and I was fine. I assessed the damage and the shift linkage was bent, toe peg snapped off and the rest was cosmetic.
So, I recieved my new shifter and linkage today and I start up the bike, drop it to first, then up to second and grinding. So, I brought it to neutral and tried again, same grinding. Then, I shut it down. I tried rolling the bike back and forth while in 1st, with the clutch in and it wouldn't roll more than a few inches, like it was still in gear.
How bad did I f*ck up?
Please feel free to tell me what an idiot I am.

Yeah, it seems fine. I'm going to put it up on the stand and try shifting to 2nd again. I popped the clutch cover and the primary cover and didn't see anything alarming.
Sounds like the shift shaft that goes through the cover is bent.
I was afraid of that...
Update. I ended up taking it to my dealer.
They're bull friendly. Hoping for the best and a quick turnaround.
