Normal, you will get used to them.
Sorry if this is a dumb question, or in the wrong section. After my crash decided I needed better ankle protection. Anyways I bought some alpinestar smx boots. They are the really tall ones. Here is my question. Do any of you have issues riding with tall race style boots? I keep running the boots into the pegs when I come to a stop. Its very hard to like walk the bike. It makes the pegs fold back. Am I doing something wrong?
Riding in a race style motorcycle boot definitely takes a bit of getting familiar with. It definitely feels different than riding with regular shoes or work boots. It is the same with gloves and a helmet, at first they feel like they get in the way. But keep riding and you will get comfortable with them. Then you won't feel comfortable riding without them. So stick with it and you will get the hang of it.
It also helps once the boots get broken in. I love my smx's bought them last year and man are they sweet. Also remember to adjust your shifter and brake lever if you haven't done it yet. Like stated above once you wear them for awhile it will be really awkward to not have them on. Almost makes me nervous sometimes if i leave them at home.
Be patient. Assuming you bought the right size, the boots will break-in & you'll eventually get used to the feel of proper riding boots.
