check for codes first before spending any cash...and download the manual from Buellmods.com
i have a 2005 XB9s, and the red engine light came on. I changed the oil and went for a long ride on the highway and it turned off. When i was done riding and let it cool down, the red light came back on again. The bike seems to be running fine and i am not hearing any strange engine noises. i cleaned the battery terminals so thats not it. The manual says that it could be a grounded oil signal switch wire, a faulty signal switch or worse an improperly installed check valve and/ or trouble with the oil pump. Does any body know where the oil signal switch wire is and the signal switch itself is? I dont have the factory manual and i thought this forum would be my best bet. I dont want to hurt the engine if it is an internal problem.

OIL SWITCH:
i would NOT ride your XB any further till you determine what caused the low oil pressure light to illuminate. check the wire and terminal connection and clean if necessary. replace switch if in doubt as they are cheap insurance. and check your oil level. i've posted at least 20X on here in the past decade how to check your level properly.
