    Hi,

I own a XB12SS and have recently purchased a Stealth Exhaust from the maker in Southampton.

The quality of the exhaust is fantastic but since the change I've had massive amounts of popping on the over run.

I got the guy to make me a baffle to decrease it which it has sort of worked but im still getting the popping.

I looked into the Remus Tuner but read so many conflicting reports that I decided not to waste my money...

I would reconsider a remap etc but not familuar with ECMSPY software.

Im based in Hampshire and may consider a Dyno tuner to have a look at the bike but dont know of any.

    Please advise

I put a hawk exhaust on mine and have a ton of popping when I let off the gas at higher RPMs. I haven't gotten to remap mine yet either, same reason as you, just can't figure out the computer stuff. It should stop, or cut back considerably once you get a new map on there though. Nothing you can do about increased air flow aside from increasing the gas to match it.

    My bike is a 2009.

The popping is just so annoying.

I have spent a lot of money to get this far and don’t want to go back to stock.

I took the bike into Hayley Oxford last week and they told me the bike was running fine but to resolve the popping you need an add on gadget or go back to stock. I considered selling the exhaust and then getting the internals changed on my stock exhaust just to give it a sportier sound. Alas, I don't think this would be a good idea... Just don’t know what to do about it.

The popping will come from ANY pipe that has a straight through design.

ECM spy is one more thing you need to invest in. If you get the cable and download the software the octopus can helping you tune your '09 since he has one too.
OR contact Erik Buell Racing to have them hook you up with a Race ECM which should help with the popping.

The stock ECM makes the bike run rich so the popping is inevitable with after market exhausts.

Maybe thats just the way they are....

    Highway?

    Is that like a motorway?

In the UK we call them motorways.

Popping is fairly common when installing an aftermarket exhaust. It's not indicative of a particularly dangerous condition.

The problem with popping is that it can occur due to running lean or rich, so it's hard to fix immediately.

Good call on not wasting your money on an in-line fuel tuner.

You can load your maps in TunerPro (look at the how-to's on this board and BuelletinBoard) and remove fuel in the overrun section. If that doesn't work, then add fuel.

    Thanks "The Octopus"

I believe the bike was running rich as when it would be on idle sometimes it would foul a plug. Since the new exhaust it seems to have cleared this issue.
I will have a look at TunerPro and somehow find somewhere near the UK to get a cable.

If you can't find a prebuilt cable, building one yourself is a breeze. Cruise on over to www.xoptiinside.com to look at Mike's cable kits. They're a good product, and will at least give you an idea of what parts you'll need to put together an ECM cable.

We're here to help if you have issues with TP. Talking over the phone may not be as doable for you, since you're over the pond, but you can always Skype with me (and screen share) if you can't figure it out. Make sure you go through all the material available on these boards, first, though. After that, I'm down to help you out.
