| Okay, up front I know that I was stupid. I just changed the filter and fluids on my Uly. Then, after only two quarts of Amzoil 20-50 synthetic, I ride it down the road for 20 minutes at 45-60mph. I know it was hot, because the fan was screaming when I stopped. So... if I open it up, how much in the way of shavings is too much? Can I use what is normally clinging to the plug magnet as a gauge? I am such a moron. Thanks. | |

| Oh man. I think you should drain that oil immediately and put fresh oil in. Ride it for a few miles and change it again. You need to flush that crap out. I would guess the only time you should see shavings is in break in. At this point there really isn't anything you can do. What's done is done. | |

| I don't think you did any damage. There was enough oil in the system to circulate and lubricate the parts. Oil has a secondary cooling job too, and the bike would run hotter than usual for sure. Harley-type engines are real good about getting noisy when there is no oil getting where it needs to go. I would change it and go on. | |

| Even if cap was 3 qts he is fine. Running a bit hotter than the norm, but won't do damage on that short of a ride. | |
