Thread: Clutch not engaging

  1. #1
Buell Ulysses 2006 bike runs, shifter lever moves up and down, putting it into first turns off the neutral light but when I release the clutch it doesn't move. reaves up but no go, I've adjusted the clutch to the manual specs.

    Idea's?

with motor off and clutch lever out sit on the uly and slowly paddle forward. you should be able to engage both 1st and 2nd with bike slowly rolling forward. same drill with motor idling and clutch lever pulled in. if not and assuming your shift lever and linkage intact and appearing functional...i'd be prepared to remove the primary cover after draining the fluid from same and inspect what's going on inside same.

do you have a stock clutch?
I have an aftermarket one, and I have to keep my clutch tightened 1/8 tighter than what the manual specs are.

    It should still do something.
If the springs were out of place on the shift pawl, I think the neutral light would still stay lit, so I'm thinking final drive somewhere.

Take off the front belt pulley cover, maybe the output shaft splines are stripped? I hope not for your sake:(
