tail light going in the back of it?
My list of desired mods was getting short so I figured I try my hand at making a custom seat cowl. I want to research vacu-forming and see if I could have this molded out of black plastic. If that isn't feasible I will stick with fiberglass. Here is as far as I've gotten on it. Yes it looks huge... Lots of shaping and sanding left. I started with way too much foam.
If I pull this off I will do a DIY thread.

Awesome man. With something of that size, you could heat a sheet of abs black plastic in an oven, and use a shop vac to vacuum form it at home. Would be fairly easy.
that's what she said. All jokes asideYes it looks huge...
That's the first thing I said to myself.:D looking good anyways. Curious to see the finished product.
looks like a Busa's tail cover.... lol
In my opinion, that is WAY too big, but the seat is not on there right now, so some of that height im sure is being factored into the mock up.
Yea yea... See the point at the rear that looks like a duck tail.. that will be flush to the rear of the seat. I need extra materialon the bottom to undercut so the cowl wraps under the seat.
But yes... Looks like a visa as it sits.
Still debating.. may leave just enough of a lip to mount my led strip or stick with the undertail lamp idea I had.tail light going in the back of it?
Maybe... I have never attempted that...sounds easy enough. I will search the interwebs for some info. Probably gonna stick with glass tho.Awesome man. You are 100% correct... That and I started too big since its not possible to put material back once I have removed it! Taking it slow. First time I have attempted this.In my opinion, that is WAY too big, but the seat is not on there right now, so some of that height im sure is being factored into the mock up.
If it turns out like crap.. I didn't waste a ton of money. Total cost will be around $40 and a 12 pack of imports for my painter.
Busa.. not Visa... damn phone! But yes... Looks like a visa as it sits.
I'd give vacuum forming a shot. If nothing else you'll maybe learn something new. You can buy a 4'x8' sheet of abs for under $40 usually. Spend a few hours making a box to form in, and I'm sure you have a shop vac or a buddy who has one, and I'm sure you have an oven. The whole process would only take you a few hours, maybe half a day or so. Then you could replicate them and sell them :)
No sanding....there's many benefits. FG is a PITA and expensive. :)
