Posted:  17 Jan 2010 02:26 [?]
I've got an old '96 S1 race bike that is in need of a carbon fiber ham can air cleaner.  I'd buy one outright or I have a hypercharger in excellent shape I'd be willing to trade.

Just to clarify, are you speaking of the racing oval style? or what was called the ham can from the early eighties harley?
the ovals do come up from time to time on ebay, craigslist.

The way I search on craigslist is to do an advanced google search, where you can specify the site, the time frame, and the words or phrases to search by.
Hope that Helps,

I'm looking for the Buell "pro series" or "race" air cleaner for the tube frame Buells. They have carbon fiber covers with offset mounting bolts on the front, an aluminum backing plate, and K&N air filter.  I would even consider separate pieces for one

thanks

Hey I found this setup, the whole pro race kit for a 2002, you should be able to use the air cleaner, and the muffler, and then be able to sell the header and ecm.
Craigslist in Corpus Christi TXthe only thing I have found so far.

Ophawk, thanks for the tip.  I'll send him an email and see if we can work something out on the air cleaner assembly.  Good find!

How much are you looking to spend on one?

Is this the style you're looking for?  I've upgraded to a Forcewinder, and this is sitting in a drawer in my garage...

Lightning, that's a sweet looking S1!  I'd be interested in your air cleaner.  Could you send an email and we can discuss it?

That pictures from the first night I got her about three years ago... So I had to snap a few pics. It's torn apart in the garage right now getting a polished swingarm.

Anyhow, about the air cleaner... I'm out of country working right now, and won't be home for about two more weeks.  But when I get there, maybe I can throw the setup on ebay or something, and give ya a heads up email when i do???  How's that sound?

I believe there's one on eBay right now.  Search on "Buell carbon" and it should come up.

I saw the carbon cover on there. But I don't think it's got the back mounting plate that attaches to the carb. And I don't know the condition of the filter on mine (or even if it's still around) But I believe I've got the cover, the back plate, the hardware, and the breather hoses.  But I'll check when I get home.

But what you oughtta do is put a forcewinder on there.  I just think more bikes need cone intakes...   : )

Never saw that one.  It's slightly different then the one that my bike had, but mainly where the cover bolts attach.  Shouldn't make a difference on how it mounts up though.

I bought a nice carbon fiber front cover and filter from Patrick.  Now, does anybody have just the aluminum backing plate with standoffs and a rear spacer that they would part with?

I don't have an extra but I am will to get you some measurements so you could make one or have it make depending on your skill/facilities.  Looks real simple to hack out

Dale, thanks for the offer, but I actually have another complete race filter setup on my street S1 that I can use as a pattern.  The thought had crossed my mind about making one out of an old aluminum street sign, but I'd rather have the real thing if I can find someone with one sitting around.
