I got the FTDI cable, so once I get my bike back I'll give it another shot.  When I was trying it before my boo-boo I was using a cable from best-buy.  I didn't know if ECMspy was specifically written for the FTDI cable.

I was originally going to try a bestbuy cable as well since I have a brand new serial to usb cable sitting at home, but remembered how picky my Autronic was on getting the right voltages and figured the FTDI would be best.  Substitutions may work, just not work correctly.....

You can't use generic Best Buy USB cables for the ECMSPY laptop software.  The FTDI cable is required to convert the ECM RS232 voltages to TTL that the USB port requires.  Palm devices like the TX already have TTL interfaces, so all you need to do is get a Palm TX serial cable from eBay, hack off the USB connector and wire up the Deutsch connector.  The Palm is useful for on-the-road datalogging, keeping you from having to lug a laptop around.

Tork;
I should have been clearer.  It wasn't a generic serial cable, it was a best-buy USB to Serial cable.

Hello

have any of you heard of a TTL-232R-3V3 it is the same as the TTL-232R but it has 3.3 IO instead of 5. Will this work? It is all i seem to be able to get here.

Thank you

I do believe it will but dont quote me on it. I used the 5V but I seem to remember reading the 3v will work also. I will do some research and find out. I ordered mine threw Here.

I've used ECM Spy many times before without a hitch.  However, I have recently loaded a 03 race map into the program and the TPS and RPM numbers are all mixed up on the fuel map.

Does anyone know what is going on?

New to the forum but I did manage to try ECM spy on the Buell xb12r.  I have everything connected and understand everything up until the tuning part.  For example, I have an open air box now.  Does that mean I no longer have a closed loop region.  Also, I just can't seem to adjust the fuel map properly.  When I let off the throttle, loud pops come out of the exhaust.  Or I think its the exhaust.  Any tips?

I THINK the maps have to come off matching Version numbers on the ECMs.  i.e. GB231 to GB231, IB310 to IB310, etc.

Did I miss the ECMspy window??  I just checked the ecmspy.com website and it is telling me the project is over???  DAMN!

you can download it from xoptiinside still
Posted:  18 Jun 2009 20:22 [?]
Hey Dave. I have the cable and the program. I have read the downloaded manual twice, but I am still a little apprehensive about jumping into the ecm spy. I read your post about using your stock pipe tuning with only the airbox delete and breather mod, and I am wanting to do the same. I guess my question is....Did you have Mike do a map for you, or did you do it yourself the first time? I don't want to spend $100 if I can do it myself, but I also like the idea of having a base map designed by someone that knows what they are doing. Your thoughts sir. Thanks  2004 Lightning xb12s Amber and black

I did have Mike do it for me. I think just having the peace of mind that I had a professional do it is worth it alone.

But GatorBuell did a very nice write up on tuning yourself. It does look pretty easy. Here's the link

Thanks. I saw Gator's post also. I kinda feel the same way. I think I will go that route. I'm am sure in my ability of doing it, but I would always question myself that maybe it would be better if had just paid the money and let someone show me first. Thanks for the input.

What is it with this message on the xopti site;

The 2008 and newer bikes will need a secondary  way for tuning 1125r and 1125cr with ecmspy.

Will it work or not with a 2008/2009 XB12?

And is it possible to revert to the original software, as to not be detected as modified. For warranty reasons. Or in Europe for emission checks?

Thanks for a reply.

Anyone still making these cables?  I need one...

I'm going to piggy back on Edipis' question.

I plugged my '04 xb12r up to ECMSpy and my TPS and RPM's were all out of order and weird looking.

Stevenc150 said it could be about a serial number match or whatever.

How do I know what I have, and what ECMSpy has loaded?
Posted:  19 Jun 2009 18:18 [?]
Also.. do you know where in ECMSpy you turn off the "look" for the Exhaust Servo?

Under the "EEPROM" tab - look next to "Firmware Version".

It's under the "DIAGNOSTICS" tab - look in upper/right corner where it has "Active Muffler Control".  It has an On & Off Checkboxes.

Sweet!!  Thanks for the help!!

It appears the ECMSPY program has been removed from their website as well as xoptiinside.com. Any ideas on where else to get it ?
Posted:  01 Jul 2009 20:44 [?]
I also need the program!!! Help! Please email to buellxbrider@yahoo.com if you have it.

THANKS!!!

Anyone found a link to the program yet? I have a Jardine exhaust that sounds and feels like crap, I would live to fix this soon.
