i took out my horn and tried to test fit the ballasts in and with the size of them i just dont think its gonna happen. i asked the place that sold them to me (and they asked thier supplier) if i could extend the wiring so i could put the ballasts under the seat. as long as i soldered them together and used the same guage wire i was told it wouldnt be a big deal. what are your thoughts on that?

I fit both of my DDM 55W slim ballasts behind the flyscreen, without moving the horn. Looking at the screen, my low-beam ballast is mounted vertically on the very far left of the screen, while the high-beam ballast is mounted flat on top of everything on the right. The foam piece on the back of the flyscreen does a good job holding everything in place.

the problem is that i didnt get the slim ballasts. although i requested them i was told that they were having problems with them crappin out. i guess thats what i get for getting these thru a friend of a friend. if it doesnt work i'll just get a ddm kit and start over lol. i can see where some slims could be mounted though! i have phone books for ballasts

What switch? I used my 'flash to pass' switch that was built in to our bikes. Or do you mean the relay?

i gave up on my install. it just wasnt ending up as clean as i want it. i decided to buy a ddm slim ballasts kit anyways and go from there. that way everything will fit under my windscreen. luckily i modded my raptor 660's headlights to fit the kit i already have, now i dont feel like i wasted 65 bucks. and the ddm kit has a lifetime warranty anyways. my current kit only was a year. thats where im at

Yes I mean they relay I just wanted to see how big it was and how everything fit, radio shack doesn't seem to have much for hobby electronics anymore, does the relay have to be rated for certain amperage

not really, I got the 10A DPDT relay. Just just don't get the 120V coil.

got a question kajer what wire is the gold one on the harness to light chart supposed to resemble.

The from harness to lights diagram takes place behind the flyscreen, just before the wires actually make it to the light module.

The black wire is ground, the orange wire is the parking light circuit, the yellow is for the low-beam, and the white is for the high beam.

If you notice, in the controls, I made the yellow wire do something completely different, it's no longer the power source for the low-beam, the orange wire is my new +12v supply for the low-beam

FROM MY POST IN "HID TIME DELAY MOD"
wanna help?
wow, rewired it just as the wt website says to, works as it should, only i have no ability to switch to low or high. so i realized that i could have both on, and my own "timer" by just wiring the ballasts to the white (high beam) wire and black (ground) bam, they dont come on with the switch on low, and both come on with the switch on high, lovely. i never "flash" people, lol... pun intended... so ill just leave it. think the wires and fuses will hold up? running everything off the stock wires, thats it. should i carry a fire extinguisher? :/

i did the "dual on" mod, switching the yellow and orange wires in the male end of the HL harness... could this be a reason? your diagram says dual on mod, but doesnt show it, your wires go in and out the same pattern: B O W Y

I undid the dual mod as now i have both running off the white, high, and thats that.

i spent hours and hours on this, way bummed... i just dont get why one example works and for me it wont...

are buells negative switching or postive switching systems? at least the headlights... the wt relay can be either but you have to have it set for the correct one

my ideal end result would be turn on key, whatever light I have selected, Low or high, it comes on after a 15 second delay. also, low is low and high is low/high simultaneously. is this even possible?

argh... sorry for the crazyness... its damn 430am, ive got a final at 10am, im filthy and exhausted.... but frustrated more than anything...

get some sleep and look at ALL of the diagrams. And yes, buells are a positive switched system.

I do NOT reccomend running 2 lights off of the white wire, HID or halogen. THIS IS NOT SAFE!!!

It's already bad enough that most of us are running both our headlights on the same ground, infact, when I get my bike back from the stealership, I am going to run a 2/14ga lead from the battery into my relay for source power.

Now... If you were paying attention, I rewired my flash-2-pass switch to feed the yellow wire momentarily to trigger the relay in the second diagram.

so that is why W O Y B come in, and go out.

for god sakes, STOP USING the white wire to power BOTH lights!!! If you like you buell and don't want to ruin your wiring harness, convert it back!

6k should start turning to blue, i have 4500k and they are nice and pure white

6000k, even at 55 watts, is definitely blue.

I love my HID lights, but I do wish I'd stepped down to 4500k.
