Thread: My 1190RX Journey of Greatness

  1. #1
    Hello all,

Havnt really been on here in some time as ive been caught up with work and all that but im back! I recently traded in my blue 09 XB9 for a red 2014 EBR 1190rx and WOW. It is truly an amazing piece of machinery. I will include a few pics and let you know my initial thoughts and impressions after owing it for 4 weeks.

After 4 weeks of riding here are my thoughts:

    1. The Looks:
Initially i was super excited to see it at the dealership but the exhaust side really looked bad to me due to the huge stock can. Today i had the shorty pipes put on and WOW what a huge difference. This is how the bike was meant to be and it really equals the bike out, Its a head turner everywhere i go and i constantly have ducati ppl coming up to talk to me about it the most for some reason lol. Also get a TON on buell guys giving me respect and fist bumps haha

    2. The Power:
This thing GOES. When i say this thing is an absolute monster i mean it SMOKES every other bike ive raced so far, the best being a 09 Busa pictured below and a 13 R1. The reason being is this just has so much torque i literally do not need to downshift i can just WOT from wherever I am and in that extra 1-1half seconds it takes them to downshift or get up to the optimum rev range for their bike im already GONE. I have yet to go below 7 on the traction control and i still smoked my buddys busa with his TC off. Next season im hoping to get comfortable with about level 5 TC.

    3. The Handeling:
Now my opinion here will be slightly messed up as my only other bikes have both been XB9's so this is my first truly "Sport" riding position but with how light and narrow this bike is it turns very hard. The same day i smoked my buddys Busa and a R1 we hit some back roads with nice wide sweeping turns and I was leading. As soon as we started to hit these sweeping turns I really pushed it and they both were trying to keep up however simply couldnt. This bike just gave me so much confidence I got lower than i ever had been on my XB9. I could see the gap getting wider and wider between us, the bike just inspired so much in me with how stable it felt it was truly empowering. Im sure a better rider could have gotten lower but when we came to the gas station to talk they were all very impressed saying "Dam you took that turn so fast how did you do that?!" After all normally i would be in about 2rd or 3rd when i had my xb9 due to their power always being so much better than me. so for me this bike is a 10/10 in this department, and was the most noticeable impression the bike gave me overall. I never thought having such good suspension would make a huge difference. This bike just soaks up any bumps in the road you can focus entirely on the lean, its just amazing.

    Overall:
I am LOVING this bike, yes it was pricey but with the $2,000 off sale and my trade in(4k) it was completely worth it. I now have to budget somewhat but the thrill and excitement of this machine is truly something i cant even put into words. If you can afford it but are on the fence the best advice i can say is DO IT. Please keep the traction control on untill you are ready, it has so much power its scary and deserves your respect. Do that and the smile never fades...

Time for pics, ill put one up of the shorty pipes i got on it tomorrow, its already in the garage today.
