Harley has a looooong way to go to catch up. There is no amount of Marc Marques shoulder corner scrubbing that can make a 10 year old engine design keep up with that.

That H-2 needs that weight to be balanced and smooth.
Why do you think the 1000cc sport bike is the marquis of race bikes. The perfect power to weight ratio. WSBK and Moto Gp are great sports centered around the liter bike. Just saying that the weight was probably factored in when designing such marvel of machinery.

I don't disagree, & yes, the pics stood out for me as being only tangentially relevant to the article. But I think what still makes the story amusing to me is that Harley has a long track record of announcing that they're going to do something innovative, then retreating as soon as they realize that it's easier just to sell the license to their logo & to make the same old bikes for a market prepared to pay whatever they ask.
