HD can suck my %$#k!
When my warenty runs out so does my relationship with them. I had a plan that when I got to be about 50 I would settle in to a HD with a little les agressive stance then my Firebolt, now I will never buy a Harley. I will buy a secound buell and turn it into a mutaint using parts made by other US motorcycle manufacturer's. You cant run a Motorcycle compainy with a sole from a Boardroom. Harley Davidsons got no SOLE!! Harley's DeaD!!! ![]() ![]()

Here is a short one, there are a bunch.
http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/message ... Buellxb.com is my home now. I still go to other sites to gather knowledge for this site. but this is where I feel comfotable. It seams like everyone always want ot argue at other buell forums, I think its mostly old timers who cant stand younger guys who still like a little bit of speed. People need to understand that it takes all types to make a good board. I will give you an example. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/message ... |

I completely understand how you feel and I was furious a month ago, but as time has gone by I've made a decision more than likely to purchase a Harley in the near future. I hate it, but I don't really have an alternative. I don't want a Rice Rocket, I don't want to give more American money to the Japanese or the Italians, and I can't afford a West Coast Chopper, or Big Dog or Big Bear Chopper, even a Sucker punch Sally's.. So the only alternative is Harley Davidson.. My XB12 is done, the frame, swing arm, and handlebars are toast - the engine starts & runs like brand new.. So my options are to completely dismantle the bike from the frame & swing arm - which is a huge & costly deal, but since the Frame & Swing arm are the gas tank & oil bag I have no alternative - and either replace the frame & swing arm and Rebuild the bike, which is completely unreasonable given the cost and value of the bike, or I can part it out and buy something else.. My only option is to buy something else.. and with Buell closed, Harley is my option and for right now, I'll have to take it to buy American. So I understand how you feel, but I'm not sure it serves the big picture and the status of the American economy. If enough former Buell owners and other Americans abandoned Jap & Italian bikes and bought Harley, maybe they'd eventually have enough capital & profit to re-establish Buell?!

| I was thinking about buying a Nightster but after the whole Buell downfall I would never even think of it anymore. Victory makes great bikes and IMO are even better than a HD before and after the Buell closing. | |

Ghost, What about Victory motorcycles? FYI, I have a couple of friends that bought Victory motorcycles and absolutely love them. they are so happy with their bikes, they almost sound as enthusiastic about Victory as we do our Buells. I know they didn't pay nearly as much for their Victorys as I did my Harleys. |

| If you're going to get a cruiser, get a Victory. Great bikes, built very well, better power than HD and they have pretty good styling by my eye. | |

Of course I've considered Victory and yes, I realize they make great bikes - but the 8 ball - including the Hammer - starts at $15k+ with tax & tags - plus dealer mark up.. the Nightster is less than $10k and ends up around $11k after tax & tags.. For the price of the base Victory I could a Brass Balls Model 1 or a Sucker Punch Sally's custom Bobber hand made for me in any color I want.. I don't want a $20,000+ bike sitting in the garage all week.. I want something I can accessorize & personalize and look good on at Cook's Corner and riding on weekends.. A nightster is the best on the market at $10k in my opinion, especially American. So maybe you are missing my point, I'm not here to defend Harley Davidson, I'm not here to argue with you. I'm saying, Buell has been cancelled and that sucks, I'm pissed too, but cutting of your nose to spite your face may not be the Best Answer to the problem. That's all I'm saying, if your budget or desire dictates that you spend $15k+ for a motorcycle - then yeah, I agree, Harley Davidson is not the best choice, but for $10k it sure seems like it is to me and that also happens to be around what a Buell used to cost as well. That is what I'm saying..

| ghost dont forget about that really warm personalised feeling that harley sales and staff give you when you whisk through their opinionated ,overpriced ,pirate/black denim wearing doors....just another opinion...i say fuck em with a big stick ..i would rather buy a ural with a chair attatched than a harley now. | |

| If I go cruiser it will be a Victory for sure. I actually almost bought the Hammer 8 ball last year before my friend wanted to sell his 'bolt to me. I think you would be WAY better off spending 14k for a Victory than 10-11k for a HD. F*ck HD. | |

| I agree with you about HD - but right now those are the options and I'm not going to buy a Victory or a Harley for what I can buy a Custom bike for.. A friend of mine owns a custom motorcycle wheel business and he has a fully customized Nightster he wants to get rid of for $6k and he's buying my busted Buell for $2k toward the Nightster - Maybe if I was spending $11k for a HD I would just wait a few more months and put together $15k+ for a Custom from Brass Balls or Sucker punch - but as it stands, I can get back on the road right away with $4k and a Busted Ass XB12.. Maybe I am just trying to make myself feel better when a month ago I felt like many of you, but after wrecking my Buell this weekend, partly of which I blame the aggressive sportbike stance of the bike, a less aggressive Cruiser sounds pretty good.. | |

As long as your buying a used Harley. We owe it to our selves to bitch slap Harley buy starving them from our busnis. If we dont they will keep doing stupid shit. Harley is nothing but a walmart with motorcycles now. You know maybe its a good thing we are seporate from that fucked up corporating. I will stop hating and bitching about it. Im sure some of you are sick of hearing it. Its up to us now to create or keep our little elite buell groups rolling strong. Also once the dealerships are out of buell it will be up to us the owners to set the value of our bikes. Thats a good thing.

Again, I understand your specific issues - One of my favorite professors always said while we were reviewing tests, "don't argue for YOUR answer" - You may be completely unhappy with Harley Davidson, and I think to a certain extent, all of us are, but is boycotting Harley Davidson going to bankrupt them? NO. Even if it did, would it be a good thing for Buell to put thousands of Harley Davidson employees out of work, especially at a time when our economy is in really bad shape and unemployment is above 10%? NO. If you can't buy a Buell and you can't afford $15k+ for a nice bike that you can customize completely and make your own and be proud of, is the answer to buy a foreign made bike right now? In my opinion, NO. Will doing any of those things Bring Buell back - NO. The old saying "if you can't beat em', join em'" sucks but sometimes it's true, and you'll end up being happy once you get over it. Just my two cents..

Ghost, that's fine. You have your mind made up by the sound of it. All I can say is, "we told ya so".
No matter what, HD isn't getting my hard earned money, no matter what they do, unless the bring Buell back of course. This was even before the Buell drop off. I've always hated the NON-treatment I'd get from HD riders as I would pass them on the roads. I sure would hate to be a hypocrite and now become one of those that seems to despise other individuals because their not a big bad ass HD rider. FUCK EM, my 2ยข |

| I agree F*ck HD and my brother even works for the stupid company. HD is dead in my book, even if stuff is covered by warranty on my 1125 I would rather do they work and pay for it myself. Just so I dont have to step foot in a HD store. | |

| Hey guys. I owned a new 07 orange and black nighster for about 8 months. It was the MOST miserable bike I ever had. The seat is basically a thin peice of leather over steel and the suspension is factory lowered to make it the most uncomfortable bike by Harley ever produced. I could ride it about 30 miles before my back started hurting because of the beating it was taking. I took it on a 500 mile ride and after that promptly sold that worthless piece of crap!!On the other hand I owned a 06 Road King Classic and that by far was the most comfortable bike I have ever owned. I took it on a 2000 mile trip and only got off to refuel! I loved that bike but not the $400 a month payment and due to the economy had to sell it. sad day. Look, Harley is not perfect and this is not the first bad business decision they have made (remember AMF ?) But they have made some good and some bad bikes. And because of their bad business choice again I was able to afford the coolest most fun bike I have ever had, new 08 1125R for $6500! We don't know what is in the future, maybe this is good in the long run. Harley could use some humbling, and Erik needed to be out from under the man where he belongs. In the mean time we will enjoy some of the best most fun bikes ever built. I know I'm thankful for mine. | |
