What did you ride before Buell?  In my case, I didn't buy one yet, and ride Triumph, Ducati and Kawasaki.  I kissed my '91 sportster goodby years ago.

didnt buy one yet eather....had about 10 jap bikes mostly hondas and one suzuki one yamaha..suzuki i like the best 1150e,,,now on a dresser took everything off its naked ...with a S&S 113..talk about a jap eater bike screws....thinking about the buells as a second bike for a little fun on the hot summer nights....what are you riding now APEX man

I use to ride a 2000 Honda CBR 600 F4. I like the reliability of the Honda better, but the torque of the buell is killer. Riding a Buell is to a Jap bike as a Mustang is to a Honda S2000. Both are good, but they work for different personalities.

buellxb  what do you have for miles on your xb  and what problems have you had
Posted:  29 Nov 2006 17:37 [?]
I only have 900 miles on my Buell XB12 Scg. Rough idle, hard to maintain rpms in first gear on 20-30mph roads in town, I wreak of gas every time I ride largely because of where the exhaust comes out, and I get some strange noises here and there. I'm pretty sure that I need to reset the TPS, but it's hard to make it to a dealer that will service my Buell aside from oil changes and plug changes. I use to ride my Honda year after year with no problems, just oil changes. I even stored it with gas over the winter with no problems aside from a rough start here and there for the first rides in the spring. In my Buell I use 89 octane (BPG, I will change to premium), and Harley brand full synthetic oil.

I am riding my Triumph Daytona 955i and still loving it.  I will have to sell it to get the 2007 Black/Red Firebolt, though.  The ZX10 and Ducati 748 are out of the question as far as parting with.  I hope to ride those two until "the end".

But, the personality of the 955i triple is, well, replaceable by the Buell but not much else out there.

I just checked out the Triumph website. In my opinion the appearance of the Triumph naked bikes don't hold a candle to my Buell XB12. I would think about it if they were about $2000 less. I love the look of the Buell frame, center exhaust, etc. Just a better looking bike period.

I like the look of the buell also but also looking for a push the button and go trouble free for many years.bike....dont think the buell can offer that...for the coast of a buell you can buy a sporster take the motor out sell it and put a S&S 110 CI MOTOR IN...now you have a 115 hp and close to 130 lbs torque..just something to think about......Pretty much walk away from everything on the highway up to 140 mph...Apexman nice group of bikes you got there.,,Have you rode a buell and if you have is the power disapointing after riding the zx10.......BUELLXB..thats another problem all the dealers around my way droped the buell line..by buddy who works at harley as a wrench said Buell.co was just bad to work with as far as warranty work ...

My Buell SS is just plain cool.

That just plain sucks.  Around here the one and lonely dealer, have buells, but they don't move.  I think the main problem is te reliability as you say.  The crowd who looks at buells, usually rather take their money elsewhere and get a jap bike.

2002 Sportster 1200 Sport (Fast), 2001 Buell M2L Cyclone (Even Faster), 2003 Roadking Classic (Topped out at 107), 2004 Softail Standard (Big Bore, and SE Programmer, Dyno Tuned. Fast, but handled like crap and too small for me), and now 2003 Buell XB9R (Not fast enough, but I am getting to be an old man, so maybe just right!)
Posted:  01 Dec 2006 15:09 [?]
What do you mean by the buell not being fast enough?
Posted:  02 Dec 2006 04:04 [?]
not as fast as he would like it to be ..the 1200 are faster...but where hes getting old he,s better off with the 900 ..he dont want to hurt himself...think it was a joke   paperdip

Amen, ironhead!

My last bike (also my 1st) was a Yamaha 225 dual sport! The Ss has been a bit of a step up, no?

If anyone's interested I've started a new forum at www.custommotorcyclesusa.com  The motorcycle forum is up and running. I still need to skin it, add a header image, and customize it a bit. You can also use Avatars on the new forum. I would be very thankful if anyone starts a couple threads to help me get it going.

Hey apex I know a guy who sold his buell to buy a speed triple 955, I was just wondering if you have had any problems with yours, how it holds up to abuse and if the parts are expensive
Thanks for any input

Hey all, I just purchased the '07 Blk/Red XB12R.....love it. In an effort to "Break-in"the bike b4 the weekend, I put on 405miles in three days. Before my deployment to the sandbox, I rode an older CBR and a Katana. I have ridden my dads custom choppers. I absolutly LOVE this Firebolt. I am in Kansas, the local Harley dealer sells Kawasaki's, I think I have the only Buell on/around base. I get stopped all the time by ppl wanting to know more about Buells.

I started on a 1997 Blue Streak M2 cyclone and laid it to rest at 2347 miles (RIP).  I had a dumb-ass cager run me off the road going the opposite direction as me through a turn really fast and he/she ran wide and forced me off the road into a large patch of gravel.  Destroyed my bike.  What didn't outright break off was sandblasted into oblivion.  The bike was totalled and when I could move around again, I took my insurance money down to Perry H/D in Kalamazoo and bought a 98' S1W dressed in Molten Orange with a Nuclear Blue Frame.  Good times....good times....

just bought a 2006 xb12s, first bike i have owned in over 10 years. i spent years drooling over Triumph Speed Triples, saw one XB12S and forgot all about Triumph.

previous bikes:
1972 norton commando 750
1971 BMW R75/5
1981 Suzuki GS 850
1986 Honda Interceptor 500
1990 Yamaha FZR 1000

and then, less than a week after getting the Buell, i dumped it. so it's back at the dealer now.

My 04 XB12s has 2500 miles on the clock with no problems what so ever.  Just gas and go.  And I have been looking to change some things on the bike and noticed that the parts I was looking at were cheep compared to my sporster.  I love my bike

Small dirt bikes as a kid
84 Honda Ascot 500
04 Sportster 1200R
04 Buell XB12s

I was looking at the triple, after selling my 06 1200 roadster, the 1200 never gave me any problems the other 13 bikes were mostly naked bikes.I started checking the buell out and knew it was for me,but after my 100 mile ride home I called back about the engine low rpm problems, but after finding this website I know its nature of the beast.I just love the way the buell handles.
