Was doing some yard work and went to move a half of a whiskey barrel planter when it rolled over my toe. It only hurt for a minute at the time but later on went to take the bike out and upshifting was a major problem!

Same thing happened to me about a year ago only it was three toes that got hit. Upshifting was very painful for a long time. I compensated by sliding my foot forward to shift with the top of my foot. Try buddy-tapping your toes and using a piece of Popsicle stick as a splint.
