Ok, I live outside metro Detroit and during the summer months we have an unofficial bike night in Royal Oak, Mi.  Its kind of an un spoken but understood thing that the Japo sportbike night is every Thursday and the Harley/Metric night is on Friday.  Now im not talking about a few bikes here, I've gone in years past and seen hundreds, yes hundreds of bikes.  Basically everyone parks on the maybe half mile strip, walks around looking and talking to other people while drinking $8 lattes.  Its kinda yuppie but meh, you see some pretty cool stuff.  The sportbikers will set up races outside the strip sometimes.  The cruisers just sit around and brag about how much they've spent on their rides.  So I guess my question is, am I safe going both nights?  Am I better off going on thursday with the Japo bikes or should I hang with the cruisers on friday? Its kinda fun if anybody's local or going to be in the area and would like to go.  Its not worth making a special long distance trip just to come or anything. ( No Sturgis by any means ) But I have seen chicks there with their own helmets and no bike, looking for someone to take em for a ride Thanks everyone for taking the time to read this and any input or suggestions/comments would be appreciated. if only time for one go metric night..probably lot more interest in your bike that night...the harley cruzers dont give two shits about buells

Kinda what I figured, but then again I didn't buy my bike because I cared what other people thought.  I just dont want someone to get pissed and knock my bike over when i'm off getting my $8 coffee.

I ride with both groups however. Most harley riders that I have encountered think that the Buells are pretty cool. Sure initially I may take a little ribbing but, a funny comeback like "Most ladies like a guy that can get it up"(wheelie) or "I'll see your bike in my rearview mirror". Ironically, I find myself jacking around more with the harley crowd.....usually starts off with some1 saying, "what are you gonna show us today?" . The sportbike guys do the extracurricular stuff themselves....I am more of a fan with them.

Which night has bikes in your/our class?Like ducati monsters or triumph speed triples.I ride with a bunch of harley guys but seem to have more in common with sport riders.I'd go both nights{twice the chicks}.

Yeah I'm thinkin both as well, just have to pick a good spot to park.  I usually ride with a guy who has an old Honda Cruiser, but we couldnt make it last week.  Maybe we will this week and see how it goes.

I know that I've rode (and still do) with both and theres pros and cons to both.  Personally, I prefer the Harley folks because they tend to ride a little slower and saner.  It's been said that the personality of what you ride or drive will become your own and I believe it to be true.  Drive a ford escort and you'll probably just putt to work everyday.  Drive a camaro and it'll be an eternal battle between you and the posted speed limit.  I'm not saying that all sportbike guys ride like they are half-crazed, hell, I've owned ninjas too.  But on the whole, the sportbike guys are younger, braver, and newer to the game than the standard Harley guy.

Ok, so check this out.  I went on Thursday last week with my buddy who rides and older Honda.  There must have been 700+ bikes, way cool.  The funny thing was, they looked all the f***ing same.  GSXR, CBR, Ninja, etc.  at one point I walked past 4, thats right, 4 of the exact CBR's in a row, same exact color scheme, only difference was the pipes they were running.  DORKY!!!  Guess what, I saw 1 other Buell.  It was a Lightning XB9S, with Canadian Plates.   It was pretty neat sitting back and people watching.  They were walking and pointing at bikes, till they came across the Buells and stopped walking.  Then did a circle around them, pointing at things before continuing on.
