    Hey Folks,
I'm looking for a 1997 or 1998 Buell S1 Lightning. Not looking for a perfect bike. Needs to run, have a straight frame, and be mechanically sound (tranny, engine, suspension, exhaust, etc.). I can't stress enough those requirements. I'm not looking for a project but I'm looking for a WERA bike. It also needs to be in Michigan, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio or western Pennsylvania. If you have one or a lead on one, please let me know.

    Thanks,

    JP

What did you buy 08? Please share, did you find any other bikes while looking?

I found a couple. Most of them were $4000+. Not great deals and the owners were not really willing to deal, they knew what they had. I actually bought a '96 S1 for $2700. I'll be selling the exhaust can, plastics, gauges, headlight turn signals and possibly some of the suspension parts and wheels. $2700 is the cheapest I could find.

Here are some links I thought were good deals:
2008 S1 - Owners name is Kevin and he's pretty cool to deal with.
'97 Lightning - never talked to this guy because it was too far away.

The 3 other ones I found are now gone. They go really, really quick.

I searched using www.searchtempest.com . I've had a lot more success with this because it searches multiple Craigslist locations. I searched 5-8 times a day because I've seen them go in less than 24 hours.

Well, you wouldn't be searching Craiglist now would you Cos. You'd be using searchtempest. ;)
