Howdy all,

My first post but I've been reading the forum for a couple weeks now. A lot of great information in here!

I have an 08 XB12s, bought it a month ago and have it pretty much broken in ( 1300 miles ).
I am getting ready to apply basic performance mods and would like input.

D&D Slip-on
SE or K&N air filter
SE Race ECM, or remap current ECM not sure which is better. Not sure who could remap the ECM around here.

After I put on the Pipe, filter, and ECM I believe I need to run it at 2500 - 3000 revs steady for 10 minutes to let the system re-learn right?

Also I have gleaned that I need to take the bike in for a TPS reset as well? This might be dicey as my local HD shop is not very knowlegeable about Buells. I figure it is in their book though.

Any inputs or other suggestions are greatly appreciated!

hi and welcome to the nuthouse!

for the ecm, remap is the best option, but as you said...you need someone who can do it
if you have, the learn in period is done on the dyno, which is the best way, since wind/air/resistance is constant.

if you get a race ecm, a reset must be done.

i would also recommend an open airbox conversion

O8's I believe you can do the tps reset on the bike with no computer, something like pushing the trip button and wisting the throttle open and slamming shut 3 times. Should be in the manual.

I will do some more research on the open airbox conversion I am sure there is plenty of info on this forum about it somewhere.
Think I may do the hose-reroute mod this weekend if I get time.
I live in Virginia, think I will search around for a repuatbale dyno-tuner. That way I can keep my stock ECM and just have the proper map written into it once I get the parts put on.

THanks for the tip, I been needing to pick up the manual for sure. That would be cool if reseting the TPS didn't require software and cable.
From what I have read here in the forum, the torque specs in the manual are highly suspect? I read something about a whole bunch of people stripping the oil plug threads out torqueing to manual spec.....

I've ridden a Harley for a long time, and thought the Buells looked like fun. Even stock this bike is a front wheel lifting beast, and sticks like glue in the turns. I grin every time I start it up.

Darkhorse,
The TPS on the 08's can be reset by you. If you need the procedure let me know. Be careful with those torque specs too.
